Tell us about the sports scene on campus.

It's all about hockey. It's the one sport people will line up to get tickets for. We're good at it, and there's the iconic Cornell vs. Harvard game that you HAVE to go to some time before you graduate. We don't have the intense sports spirit that other schools may have, but we still have that feeling of Cornell pride. We're quite good at a lot of sports, they just don't get as much attention as they probably should.

Cornell is not a big sports school like a Big Ten school or an SEC School, but still has a lot of offerings for the student interested in seeing Cornell Athletics. Hockey and Lacrosse are the two sports that consistently do the best, but we compete in a decent number of D-1 sports. Many people attend the hockey games at Lynah Rink, and the Cornell-Harvard hockey game is the biggest game of the year, and our rivals. All events except for the hockey games are free with a Cornell ID, so many students go to games during the weekend if they have free time or want to see a friend play.

Our football team is pretty bad, though sprint football is good. The theme is that we are good a lot of spots, they are just not the ones people follow. We are good at hockey and basketball though, especially hockey. Hockey is probably the sport with the most following.

Over Thanksgiving, Cornell played hockey against Boston University at Madison Square Garden (AKA 'The World's Most Famous Arena')...I personally was unable to attend, but many of my friends attended and told me it was a great experience watching friends and classmates play hockey on the same ice as the New York Rangers play on.
