What are your classes like?

K

Workload varies heavily according to which sort of class you're taking, but I've never found the amount of work assigned to be unbearable. For humanities, which are the classes I'm primarily taking, there's a lot of reading. But even though there's a lot of work, it isn't bad because they're classes you've chosen -- they're classes you've decided you want to take, and therefore are teaching you about a subject you're interested in. The professors and the courses provided at Cornell are incredible -- there's an almost overwhelming variation of choices in practically every subject imaginable. I've really enjoyed my classes thus far because they facilitate lots of student-to-teacher and student-to-student discussions.

Challenging, but not tremendously or impossibly difficult. Huge variation in degree of difficulty too. Some classes require far more effort than do others. In general, certain majors, such as applied physics and premed, are more difficult than others, such as the English major for instance. Plenty of smart and motivated students, however, can be found in any major throughout the university.
