Culver-Stockton College Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Kirwin

I wish I had done a bit more research on this college before I attended. I had no idea that there were only 810 students going here and I wish I had known that there was no shuttle that took students to the next town. That is also something that the school could improve on. Not everyone on campus has a car and without a vehicle one can feel stuck and at times bored out of their mind.

Kelsey

There is a lot of drinking. The religious life of campus is hugely lacking. I was very discouraged from my studies because it seems like many of my classmates don't care a lot about their education. The school has great teachers and interesting subjects. The new ideas for curriculum are innovative and exciting.

Kayla

Before I came to Culver-Stockton, I wish I knew a little more about the field I am planning on going into after graduation. I would have been more prepared for my education and how to handle any obstacles that are yet to come.

Kelsey

I wish I would have known that college isn't as bad as people make it to be. I wish I would have came into college not so stressed out and more relaxed.

Reba

The one single thing that i wish i had known before I came to this school was that it is a very personal school. This could be a great thing as an academic learning standpoint, but it also has its downfalls. Some teachers hold prejudice against some students, but overall it is quite fair. I also wished I had known that I shouldnt come into the experience scared because freshman year was not as hard as I thought it would be.

Dakota

I wish I had known about all the different people I would meet. I come from a small town where there isn't much, if any, diversity at all and it was nice to get to see different kinds of people.

Deandra

That shannon hall did not have air conditioning, and that everyone will find everything out about you.

Leanne

I wish I would have realized how important it is to do your best in high school. I was an honor student in high school but I believe I could have pushed myself to do more. I would have taken more dual-credit classes (college courses) during high school to give me more of a step up when I came to college as a full time student. That would have helped me to get 150 hours by the time I received my undergraduate degree so I could sit for the CPA exam.

Heather

The curriculum change.

Babette

I would have liked to know a little more about the curriculum. I did not understand the way classes are chosen and what I have to take versus what I want to take. I had very little knowledge about college and how much different it is than high school.

Michael

Nothing that I can think of.

Christopher

Before i came here i wish i would have known exactly how much work it would take to keep up with the nursing major, if i would have known this I would have taken summer classes and would not have played sports, my grades slipped due to an injury and ive worked twice as hard to make up for it.

Mindy

I wish that I would have known that our curriculm was going to change from a full 15 week to a 12 and 3 week course. Also to know how dead the school is and how there is nothing to do in this small town.

Nicole

I wish I had known that the professors in the science department do not have any ongoing research projects. Research is used as a teaching tool by our staff, not for publication. Knowing that may have influenced my decision at the time, but I understand why they do what they do, now.

Katelin

I wish I had been taught how to study before I came to school. High school did not require studying so I never learned. Learning how to study should be in high school classrooms for college bound students.
