Run. This school is a total joke. The administration is impossible to deal with and gets not even the most basic requests handled. If you manage to deal with that BS and actually start classes you’ll be shocked by the horrible professors and education quality. The majority of the students in classes here were ESL and could hardly make sentences. Even the native English speakers were writing with no punctuation. It was like being in 2nd grade- maybe worse. They clearly let anyone in here and the classes did not seem like college level at all. The professors offer little online interaction or feedback so you are basically paying to teach yourself while dealing with moron students in discussion rooms. If you are seeking a good education this is not the school to get it. Avoid at all costs.

KBCC is a small community college next to a beach in Coney Island, New York. In all honesty there really is no college spirit at all and this is to no blame of the faculty or students. Because this is a two year college what I feel like happens is students really just come in and get out, there isn't time for engagement. Many of the students are older and probably working to support family so they are part time. Faculty and staff are very accommodating, although there is always the occasional bad apple. Everyone knows that KBCC staff are generally helpful especially in the Financial Aid department. Of Course there are clubs and opportunities but most students don't really end up joining because unless they have a friend group that is a part of it. There are more groups of students, while I don't want to say clique that is what it is like. Just like in highschool there will be the same groups of students being loud and rowdy at the same spot while the rest of the students are scattered around loosely. KBCC is in a very safe location, it's in a high end residential area, the residents are retired couples or small families. If you are looking for an engaging, spirit full college and campus experience KBCC unfortunately will not be the place for you, however if you just want to get your credits in a relaxed and supportive community while also taking in the beautiful beachfront views you have found your place.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If i can go back to my senior year in high school, the first thing I would advice myself to do is ask myself if I am ready for a college commitment. After all the horrible things that happened in my senior year, I made the mistake by jumping into college without being prepared and I was forced to drop out. I did return to college the following semester. I would also advice myself not to take classes before 1pm because I am not a morning person. College is very different from high school. I should also advice myself that studying the day before an exam, like i did in high school is not the best idea for a college midterm. I would let myself know that college is fun, and very nice because you get a lot of independance, but it requires a lot of dedication.
