Students at Queens College want to get a good quality education for a good price. A significant percentage of the student body has a part time or full time job in addition to college. Many students commute but a significant number of student dorm on or off campus.

Queens College is very ethnographically diverse: a lot of very religious and not so religious Jewish students due to the demographic location of Queens College Campus; African Americans, Hispanic, Muslim and Caucasians. There aren't more of one group than another so everyone can find a group or a club that will suit their interests, cultural or ethnic background.

Queens College has a wide variety of stereotypes. Those in the Macaulay program are considered nerds because they had the brains to get into the program. Our college also has the jocks because there are many sports teams, a lot of them live in the Summit. Others who are part of the fraternities or sororities are usually considered the party kids and hang out in the QCafe. Other than those groups, Queens College is pretty diverse.

There are two stereotypes of students that I can think of, and they're both true. The first is that the student body is very diverse at Queens College. Many of the students are local, and Queens is one of the most diverse communities in the country so the student body reflects that. The second stereotype is that Queens is a commuter campus. A lot of students come in, take their classes, and get out - it's true. Still, there are also students that are very invested in campus life. There are loads of opportunities. Like anything else in life, it's what you make of it that defines the experience.

There is a large amount with students that are in frats. They are usually known to be very friendly and always walk with one another. There are stereotypes about them such as the fact that they are known to be very self-centered. They don't care about other students but only about their sisters/brothers.

I don't mean to sound cliche but I don't think there is a stereotype at Queens College... Its a pretty mixed crew and there isn't a certain "type" that is projected. That's actually one of the things I love about it! It is so diverse and there are so many possible types of people you will get to meet everyday!

As many people know, the borough of Queens is one of the most diverse places in America. That being said, Queens College is even more diverse! There are people from every type of background, race, religion, ethnicity, and more - and everyone is very accepting of one another. Based on this, people are sometimes concerned that the campus creates no sort of unity. But this is far from the case. Everyone at QC has a "pull-myself-up-by-my-own bootstraps" mentality and all students work hard to succeed. Most students have at least one job, if not two or three, in addition to taking five classes a semester. They're either helping out their parents financially or are completely on their own and are paying for college. Because of this, everyone in Queens is very willing to help each other out.

There is no single stereotype at our school. We are known for our diversity here in Queens. Most of our students are either from Queens or Long Island. The ethnicity of the student body ranges from Indian to Swiss, from African to Australian. The international student population is growing yet, and I'm sure it will continue to grow. There are, however, stereotypes within the specific groups of population at the school. The athletic jocks who spend most of their time in the gym, the loud music students who seem to live in the music building, the science geeks who are always on their computers in the lobby of the science halls, the orthodox Jews who seem to congregate in the Dining Hall, the rich Long Island boys who never learned how to work for what they want,... and the list goes on.

Queens College has a variety of students of campus. You will be able to find all kinds of sterotypes on campus. Whatever you think about, you will find them at Queens College. Personally I have seen many goal-oriented, social, and down-to-earth individuals.
