This school is truly amazing educationally. All the teachers have been so kind and helpful. They don't make you feel stupid for not understanding something. The only down fall is that we have to pay to take our finals which doesn't really make sense to me.

I am an online student, but the staff is terrible. You don't get a reply and if you do, it isn't until days after and the situation at hand has already been solved by yourself or it's too late. I don't get half the emails I'm supposed to, my books are always 2-3 weeks late in the mail, no one ever calls or emails you back and always "attaches" someone which isn't helpful. I am starting my 4th quarter and I JUST got enrolled into classes the day of the start of the quarter. There is nowhere to see your bill or what you're paying for online but a confusing "breakdown" which the office staff can't even seem to understand. I've asked questions and they don't even know the answers, just give a half thought out answer that makes 0 sense. Evidently, I am out of my Pell Grant for this school year which doesn't make sense, why didn't they divide it into equal parts instead of 3/4 of the school year. Overall, I hate this school and they don't seem to care to change anything for the students. especially online. The teachers are great and always respond in a reasonable manner, I wish the staff would take notes from them.

I genuinely enjoy this school because of the communication with other students and professors is easy and accessible. Everyone is always willing to help.

Dallas Institute is a great school. I love that it is a standalone building for a school just for funeral services and mortuary science; this provides a close-knit program. The classes are never too big, so the student to teacher ratio is great! It is a fast pace school, but they give us the skills and teach us in a wonderful way. They have perfected the way to retrain our brain to learn and to retain information. The staff is very friendly, and they all want us to succeed. They do not just want us to succeed for “star ratings”, but they have mentioned that it is great when a student graduates, and essentially becomes their colleague. I am very proud to be a part of this school, and the programs they provide. They host a group for those wanting to be in Lion’s Club. Another club is Women in Black. In 2009, 10 women formed this group to bond together in an industry that is predominantly men. Even though Women in Black is not nationwide, they did not hold these women back from creating the group that would help them make it in school, as well as in the industry after graduation. This group is still an ongoing program at Dallas Institute. Not only did they allow this group to be formed, but it was highly encouraged and highly respected, just as it is now, 8 years later. Dallas Institute is also a part of Pi Sigma Eta and strives for their students to do their best to become involved in this great fraternity. Dallas Institute of Funeral Service provides multiple avenues to ensure graduating students that will succeed in the mortuary science field. They are involved in the students learning, and their growing minds. I am thankful and blessed to call this my school. - Lauran Schneider Class of September, 2019
