A freshman male student explains Davidson stereotypes.
Sophomore female student talks about Davidson stereotypes.
Most people think Davidson students never stop working. I'm not sure but I also think that it sometimes gets the prep school reputation.
academically rigorious, hard-working, study all the time, good relationship with the community
That we are all wealthy, white southerners. That we're conservative. That we are workaholics.
Some people think Davidson students have to be the children of alumni, wealthy, and/or very smart. On campus, students have a reputation of being stressed out but always willing to keep working.
Polos and pearls. All type-A: work hard, play hard. Extremely involved in community service. White. Christian.
We are absurdly friendly, preppy, and we work really really hard.
Preppy, rich, homogeneous, snobby, southern, pretentious, studious, smug.
I think there are some stereotypes that we are ridiculously conservative and typically southern, but in some sort of bad sense. I would say most people think Davidson is a relatively wealthy school with students who don't know how to relax and enjoy themselves because they're too busy studying.
Preppy, smart, and predominantly white
smart, down to earth, dependable, honest
All white, too much work, grade deflation, all rich
There is a stereotype that Davidson has a ridiculous amount of work with impossible grading standards. There is also the stereotype that the students are very snobby and have an undue sense of entitlement.
In library all the time Can't have fun Awkward
That all Davidson students are uptight workaholics. That Davidson is really preppy and full of snobby rich kids. That Davidson has a ballin' basketball team.
Some common stereotypes of Davidson College are that students have 1)too much work and 2)students are obsessive about grades and are super competitive.
That we study all the time and don't ever par-tay.
That they work all the time, don't have any fun, and are WASPy
I would say the biggest stereotype is that Davidson is a nerdy college without much social life and students who do nothing but homework.
Davidson students are a bit anal about grades. All nighters are normal. Library is the second home of many students.
I would say some stereotypes about Davidson is that there is not much diversity here, that it is mainly rich white kids.
Some stereotypes portray Davidson students as rich, white, arrogant, athletic, and moderately religious.
We work all the time, non-stop.
People think we work really hard and have grade deflation...I once heard Davidson described as a J-Crew campus...At Davidson, everyone seems to believe that there are only two types of relationships: random hook-ups and committed, long-term, attached-at-the-hip relationships.
Davidson is ridiculously hard and that Davidson students study all the time. Also that Davidson students are preppy.
That all Davidson students do nothing but work.
Davidson students work and over-work all throughout the semester. Everyone is busy all the time.
Davidson, at least in the west, has the image of being old-school, southern and preppy.
-They work all the time and never have fun. -They are rich, Southern, white kids.
The two biggest stereotypes about Davidson are its free laundry service and academic difficulty. A stereotype I had coming in to Davidson was the percentage of its student population that is from the South.
That Davidson is a lot of work and students are working all of the time
1) All we do is work. 2) It is a very "southern" school.
Too brainy. Athletic. Friendly. Type A. Religious
We are a really small college, so people think we don't know how to party. We're all white, upper middle class Southerners with some hippies mixed in the lot.
Academically hard. Students study a lot because there's a lot of homework. good at basketball. great laundry services.
Preppy, fairly religious, wealthy, all the girls wear black pants and pearl earrings, a country club school, really hard academics
They work very hard, they are type-A, they are organized.
That they are nerds, get intense about work, but at the same time they play hard.
That we're all preppy snobs or awkward nerds.
The biggest stereotype I hear is that we are all type A.
preppy, Southern, really hard working
Wealthy, white, Southern, private-school educated, workaholics.
Davidson students are white, high class, blonde, skinny, conservative, traditionalist, and presbyterian
The most prevalent stereotype is that Davidson is just a bunch of Southern nerds. All we care about is grades and how our low GPA will affect us in the "real world". Also, there is the idea that our social lives do not exist and we don't party.
that we study are always in the library... another stereotype now - Steph Curry
That we are nerds and don't know how to have fun
preppy, stuck up, cocky, smart
I think the most common stereotype is that all of our students are affluent white athletes or that you either "hook up" or get married in a relationship here.
Davidson students are obsessive type A individuals who work too hard to be well-adjusted.
