The education, resources, and support of all university employees. The classes are small where your voice is heard, and where the is a level of comfortability. You know those in your majors especially. There are endless resources that Denison encourages and publicized, and everyone on staff that I ever came into contact with was encouraging, supportive, and available. The professors create flexible office hours and develop personal/professional relationships with students that promote learning and growth. The staff are always helpful and supportive from the late cup of coffee to a cheerful joke. I loved it all!
Being able to take a wide variety of classes is simple at Denison. Many of the classes are cross listed to get broader teaching lesson which opens up choices for the students who are not sure about what they want to measure. For example, I took a biopolitics class the was cross listed with women's studies and thanks to that class, I have decided to major in women's studies. If it was not for the cross listed factor, I would have never taken the initiative to take a women's studies class.
The scenery is very pretty and it can help relieve the stress to just relax and take a look around. (Also the education here is pretty awesome)
The best thing about our school is that it is a close-knit community. We can all get to know each other. There is a lot of diversity at the school as well, not so much ethnically, but in terms of where people are from. I have met people from every corner of the United States and I find that pretty unique in terms of colleges across the country.
The amount of clubs and organizations that students can take part in. There is a wide variety whereas everybody can find an extracurricular activity and a group to feel comfortable in.
The library is one of the best things at the school. It allows you to get almost any book you want and is interesting with lots of study spaces and the staff pretty open mined.
By the time I will have left, I will only have paid for one year of college in loans-- it's like getting three for the price of one! I also believe that the college radio station, WDUB, is the reason that I have stayed with this school through both good and bad times.
When I visited Denison as a high school senior, I felt right away that I could fit in, and I have.
