What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Patrick

First and probable the most important, learn how to manage your time. You will want to have fun (party), go to classes, and maybe even work, it will be essential to know your limits and learn how to do everything and be successful. For the first couple years if you can afford it, don't work, or if you must find something you enjoy and if needed can allow you some study time. Stay away from early morning classes at least for the first year (trust me 10am comes really early and anything before that is not worth it). Use the tools available to you on campus including an advisor, financial aid, etc. Find at least one good professor you can use as a mentor not just for school but for life. College is about discovering who and what type of person you will be, a good mentor can help you in more ways than you can imagine, plus it gives you a lifelong friend. Lastly have fun! Take the time to try something new and different, that you normally wouldn't even consider. It's in those moments you find out how to live and maybe even love.
