DVC is a great community college for students looking to get their general education finished up and transfer. Classes aren't too big so you have more opportunities to talk to professors, and the campus is pretty and offers a good food selection in the cafeteria as well. The quality of education is very average, however, and many online teachers opt to not personally teach or create their own assignments but to have the entire class be structured around an online textbook with homework assignments and tests attached to the online textbook program. There are sports and music programs, but there is a limited amount of clubs and groups to join to meet people and have a more typical college experience. I would also say that it can be very difficult to speak to counselors, as their hours are highly limited and accommodating for community college students.
Diablo Valley college is honestly a great school, their financial aid is good enough that I have paid slightly more than 100 dollars for class tuition for my whole 3.5 years there. The teachers are most commonly good ones with the occasional bad seed. Coming from the mechanical engineering degree side of things, the technology that they have at DVC is fantastic. They have all the programs you could need, 3D printers, computers everywhere, and the capabilities to work hard and study hard with all the resources you could ask for. I am a first generation college student, so my knowledge of college has been very limited, and so counsellors and their transfer center have been a great help in teaching me what to do, and how to transfer out (which I am transferring to California State University Sacramento). The people at DVC are calm and collected, not too many like “snooty” or high-strung type characters too. There are a lot of international students at DVC however, they are usually the ones who are high strung if you find someone who is. The teachers are usually really good, I’ve found some really kind, hardworking and genuinely caring teachers who have gone the extra mile to make sure their students succeed. Though, just saying, there are a few teachers around the school to stay away from, but its easy to learn and all you need to do is your best, and this school will work out amazingly for anybody who goes here.
Diablo Valley is a great school to me because a lot of my professors care about their students. However, what can be improved is the involvement of the students with each other. Overall, the campus is clean and I feel I can successfully transfer to a great UC or CSU
My overall opinion of Diablo Valley College is that it is a college that cares about the wellbeing and future of its students. Although my personal attitude when it comes to a community college is to get in and get out, there are many clubs and activities outside of the classroom for those who want to get more involved with campus life. I would recommend this college to anyone looking for a good community college.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Diablo Valley College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
I would strongly advice myself to be more confident and outgoing. I would tell myself to translate those two qualities in the form of community service, volunteer work and leadership roles which not only look good on the college applications but are just beneficial in general. I would tell myself to get in the habit of reading at least five books a month solely because one gets smarter after each page. I would try to convince my younger self by stating the I have not performed at my optimal level yet because of my inability to do lots of reading. If I plant this seed and establish a good habit during the high school years, it would have a lot of contribution to my successful future including my performance in college. I would also advice myself to get work experience early on, in the form of internships and even talking to people working in the field I am majoring in. With internships, I will get a good glimpse of the working environment and from the people in field I can be enriched with their useful infield experiences which would be beneficial to me when I start working.
the only thing that could be worked on at my school is the classroom desks need serious updating.
Friendly enough; however, not usually ones to begin conversations.
The campus is so pretty. Every day, it seems as if the Sun's attendance is enough for people to smile. There are trees everywhere and so many places to sit and just admire it all. Diablo Valley seems to be in the middle of everything as well, in terms of location. There are many places to visit within walking distance, it comforts the student that has yet to obtain a car to drive.
I wish I had talked to a councelor before planning my future at this school. That way, I could go over the classes I would take to get my out of the community college as quick as possible. Also, I wish I had known about book rentals online. I did not find out about his until very recently. All I can think of now is how much money I could have saved on books.

My school Diablo Valley College is best known for success. DVC ranks among the top 5 transfer colleges in California. Knowing this information allows me to feel i can really do this. I can do well in college because of the great teachers and courses offered at this school.
When I'm telling someone about the Diablo Valley College its usually positive things. With the exception of the long waits in the all the lines your have to stand in during the enrollment process. Those I could definitely do without!
Best thing about Diablo Valley College is the diversity. It is really good to see a mixture of age, race, culture, ethnicity, and religion. We, as students come together as one to better ourselves. We all have the drive to learn and educate ourselves for a better tomorrow. Besides improving our minds in our general study course at the school, we also improve our minds to learn from the diverse people that share the same hopes, goals, and dreams. Diablo Valley College is best know for an outstanding education in an exceptional diverse environment.
The most frustrating thing about DVC is its lack of classes. Many of the classes I need are either too full or do not fit into my schedule. It would be nice to have more classes available at more times. However, it is not always possible.
This has definitely been a great stepping stone for me. The perfect transition from high school to college for me and I have grown in knowledge and maturity. I like it a lot.
There is a broad range of classes available and there are some truly magnificent professors here.
The most popular organizations at DVC are the DVC government, the Consultant Club and The International Students Club.
The stereotype is that this is as continuation of high school and only the bad students or the students that had no direction go to this school. It's true that many people come to dvc to discover what they want to study but that id so they can do so without paying more than they can afford.
