Dominican University is a hidden jem of the San Francisco Bay area. The campus is a peaceful oasis as it is surrounded by trees, flowers, and lawns - nestled in a quiet residential community. Dominican's most popular academic programs include: nursing, LINES dance company, occupation therapy, business, and the natural sciences. Being located 30 minutes away from San Francisco, having small personalized class sizes, and encouraging a welcoming and diverse community - makes Dominican an ideal university for any student seeking a small, and peaceful college experience.

I enjoy Dominican for the Nursing program. It is a VERY small school, so everyone knows each other and their business! Class sizes are super small which is great. Professors are good. Campus life can be a little dry, and if you're not an outdoor person there may not be much for you to do.

Geovanni

Dominican University is the perfect school for the quiet person. It is a small school with small class sizes making it a more intimate setting. Being a small school is a benefit, with the small student population it is almost certain that you will meet with your advisor and get the classes you need. You can also grow close relationships with your professors. Dominican may not have many extracurricular activities, but social events are available if sought out. Dominican will not for everyone, but it is perfect for many.

Daeja

I think that going to Dominican exposes you to a lot of great opportunities to learn about current issues and ways to get involved. The learning is also easier and the professors actually care if you pass their class or not. I feel that all of the faculty are more than willing to help the students have a successful career in the long run.

  4. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I should have spent more time researching financial aid options and the true cost of attending college. In addition to tuition, you should budget ~$100 per 3 unit class for books. Additionally, you need to be mindful of the break-points for financial aid. Last year, I was initially approved for both subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford loans in the summer. After completion of the summer semester I learned that I had not qualified for the subsidized loans because I took only 4 units, rather than 6, that semester. It affected my financial aid for the entire year.
