ETBU wasn't my first choice and felt kind of irritated for having to come here. However, as classes progressed and new friends were made, I've come to appreciate and enjoy everything ETBU has to offer. There is nothing negative to be found in, on, or about ETBU. Although much different from a public university (class sizes, sports, etc.) it is still a great experience!

Brailey

It is a wonderful atmosphere to grow in your education as well as your walk with Jesus. Since it is a small university, you make a lot of friends. You also get to know your professors really well. They really want to see you grow as a person. I love living life on the hill.

Kristina

I love ETBU, the environment is so friendly and the professors really care about the students. The professors really want the students to ask for help no matter what, the email response time is usually within that day or within hours of when the email was sent.

Ariana

The campus if fairly small, which is a good thing due to having a really close family of students and faculty. Everybody is engaging with each other and always spread positivity.

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for East Texas Baptist University is 50%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Jana, I know you think that you have a lot of time and everything will fall into place but the truth is that is not how the real world works. Choosing the right college takes a lot of work and time. You know the most important things to you in a University are; 1) a Christian University 2) a small/medium size population 3) a chance to play softball. Going off of these three musts in a college you can narrow it down. Next, you should decide if you want to stay in state or go out of state. Going on campus trips is a must!!! Virtual tours are nice but they still do not give you the true feel. You should talk to current students and faculty members at each university. Keep your mind open. After visiting every potential University sit down visualize yourself at every school and think not only of what the school can do for you but also how you may impact the school. Asking for someone else's opinion is fine but remember in the end this is your life!! Lastly and most importantly pray that God will guide you to make the right decision.

  5. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The internal contradiction. We are a Christian school with a Christian mission yet we do not even reach out to the poor neighborhood that our school is located in. Some of the outreaches to the community are very beneficial yet we stll make sure everyone know that it is the rich white school in town that is dong it instead of being the hands and feet of Christ. This just further strengthens the divide between our community and internally with students who aren't believers.
