One thing I wish I would've known about this school before I came is how if I didnt come in with college credits that I would be there for an extra year. A lot of students have told me this and its something I wish I could've known before committing.

Jessica

I knew basically everything that I had to know before I choose this school, but the one thing that I wish I had also taken into concideration is travel expences. My home is in upstate New York and my college is in Virginia, which means that I have to spend alot of money to get home for holidays and vacations. In many cases I have to choose which vacations I could do without going home. Did not really imagaine that I would get homesick at all, becasue I never have before at summer camps.

I wish that I had looked more into the art program, or asked to sit in on a few studio classes.

Ethan

I wish I had known more about time management. EMU, being focused on liberal arts, really requires that a student focus on their academics because of the variety of classes required for graduation. Because the academic workload is liberal-arts oriented, time management is critical for getting your work done. Having said that, getting good grades in this school is not hard if you stay on task and turn your work in on time. A student can earn high grades through sheer hard work and being responsible with their time.

I wish I had known that my transition would be easier than I thought, I could have saved myself a lot of tears and anxiety. I am accepted here, regardless of my age. I have not been singled out or made to feel uncomfortabe. I am not treated as if I am different from any other student from professors or the young student body. They have been very helpful and encouraging to me. I could have saved myself a lot of energy worrying if I would connect with them or if the professors would feel uncomfortable. I am at home.

David

I wish I had been encouraged to seek out more diverse people.
