Eastern Nazarene College Top Questions

What kind of person should attend this school?

Meghan

ENC is a Christian college, belonging to the Nazarene sect. The rules are much stricter than at a public, non-Christian school. The school is good for people who need extra attention in classes since they are small and the professors look out for their students. The rather strict rules are good for people who need help recovering from addiction(s). In general the school is great for students who are looking for a Christian school that has a pretty tight community.

Anyone looking for a solid Christian education should consider this school. This school provides a very tight community feel, and you will get to know your professors well. If you want a good liberal arts core, with a Christian background, this school is for you.

If you come for School, you are the person. If you come to get closer to God; you are the person. If you have come to gain new friends and relationships; you are the person. If you have come just to get a high quality education; this will be home.

The person attening ENC should be friendly and comfortable with a small, suburban campus. There are too few students to expect anonymity, but it's not a bad thing. The ideal student should be Christian because there are certain required Bible classes and a specific amount of mandatory chapel attendances. They should value professors who take a real interest in their students and are very willing to work one-on-one with them. Students should feel comfortable with the familiarity of their professors and not be afraid to approach them. Thy should be toleran and open-minded of others.

I think that the type of person that attends Eastern Nazarene College should be someone who likes being in a tight knit commuity. This school only has about 1,000 students, ahich is significantly lower than most. However, the school is on seven miles from Boston, MA so there are plent of rescorces in reach of every student. Also, the person should be aware that it is a Christian college, and that there are rules that some people may not agree with. If a person is someone who does not like to follow rules, they shouldn't come here.

Depends on your major. Business majors, doctors, social workers, law students can aim high because the academics and professors are great. English, social sciences, ect. are not as well connected with the outside world. Most fields that focus on practicality thrive here, but other fields that require creativity don't so much because, ironically, I feel that there is a general lack of creativity on campus and a failure to truly tap into what is going on in the outside world. This comes not from the professors, but from the administration. That's what happens when school is financially strapped.
