I wish I had known about the freedom to explore options at this school. I came in with the idea of pursuing nursing and only kept my mind set on that. I didn't see how many classes were available and how many options I really had to explore. Unfortunately I fell away from my nursing path and just now realized all the other courses I could take. I'm finding out I'm enjoying the variety of courses, especially music. Like I said, if there was one thing I wish knew, it would be all the opportunities.

I wish I would have known that I could have completed an undergraduate program on time. Also, I wish i would have known how supportive my peers and professors would be during my experience in college.

While I would not change my decision to attend Eastern University, it would have been helpful to have spoken with an Academic Advisor and map out the classes I would need if I decided to change or add to my major.

I wish I had known how dead it would be on the weekends. A lot of people go home, I'm from far away so I was often alone. This was a hard adjustment to make.

I wish I would have known that college is nothing like high school. When I first walked through the doors of Eastern University, I was expecting this to be like a nice ride on the merry-go-round, but it was not. It was a crazy roller coaster with flips and turns that I did not see coming. I did not realize how challenging college life is compared to high school, but I learned my lesson and I know now what I need to do so I can have that nice and easy ride; just like in high school.

I wish I knew how much money I would neeed. The school is very expensive and I wish I would've worked harder to get money together. I also wish I would have been better about studying and taking notes. If you do not take good notes you will not be able to study very well. You can study the books but that does not always help you as much as the notes you take on the information.

I wish I'd known more students that came in with me. I know one that I participated in track with, although he is the only one I knew. I go to a small school so it's not a huge deal, but it would have been nice. It would have also been nice to know who my suite-mates were. I found out who my roommates were, and that we had a suite, but they don't tell you who your suitemates are, and since we are sharing a bathroom, it would have been nice to know.

As most college students probably experience, my biggest learning curve was adjusting to being surrounded by people with completely different perspectives than my own. Eastern really encourages students to learn by listening to many opinions in the classroom and out, but I didn't realize my own voice was important until after my first year. I'd encourage anyone attending this school to not let the loud voices on campus make you feel like yours is less worth hearing. Learn from the students, professors, and staff around you, but feel free to express your thoughts, too.

I wish I had known how accessible Eastern University was to Philadelphia (a 30 minute train ride or 40 minute drive), and the breadth of cultural events that I could be a part of in the city. I did not take advantage of the ease of accessibility to Philadelphia until my junior year, and I wished I had trekked into the city more when I was a freshman and sophomore.

I wish I had known that quality of education is not measured by how much a school is or what the school purports to be. I have my education and I am grateful for my degree, however, I do feel I could have obtained a comparable education at a public school that would have left me much less in debt. :-)

One thing I wish I had known before I came to the school is the 'personality' of the different dorms. When filling out housing information I did not have a preference for what dorm I would be placed in. I am in the newest dorm, which is nice, however some the other dorms have better community.

How to organize my time better. How much walking I'd be doing. How to buy books used online. The SAT really isnt as important as everyone seems to think. Don't put things off until the last minute.

I wish that I had been advised by my high school counselor on how to apply for scholarships. It is extremely difficult and time-consuming. You also aren't aware which websites to trust.

How much I would be in debt after I graduated.

I wish that I knew that you cannot live off campus unless you live at home.

I wish I had known more about the theology of the school before I came (it may have influenced my decision). I also wish I knew how expensive the area would be around the university.

I was always an organized person, but in college it's even more important to stay on top of things. You're an adult now, and the bar is set a little higher. Lay out assignment due dates on a monthly calendar and fill in what you will do on each day and stick to it, so that your assignments get done on time with less stress.
