What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

i would tell parents to let their children pick the college thats right for them.i would tell students to pick a college they can afford and that has some activities they are interested in either on campus or around the campus. I would also tell students to do their work but also have fun and try new things.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The advice that i give parents and students is to do a full research about the college before you pick but Elizabeth City State University is a good college because it's a small school and that gives the professor to help students individually with anything that they don't understand. The professors and the advisors care about the student academic work and do the best they can so the students can be on the right path.

The advice I would give to parents/stuents is be sure of whatever choice they make. You should not attend a school in which you feel you will not unlock your hidden potential. College is supposed to be a learning experience wheter good/bad. Choose a college that fits . With this hopefully you'll be able to look back and say " Those were the best years of my life".

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had learned how to actively socialize with others.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

When I graduated from high school and decided on the college i wanted to attend i was looking at the schools that my friends were attending but little did i know that was a big mistake. Parents really need to make sure that there child really wants to attend that school and if that school has there major. I think that every child should definitly visit the school and the chancellor. It gives them a chance to see the school before they make a decision. They also need to make sure that the school is the right size and environment. When a child first enters a school make sure they attend the schools freshman week. It is a great opportunity for students to interact with the other students and make friends. It is also a great way for students to see the entire campus and what is offered within the school.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish i had known that there was not alot going on around here. There is no places to shop, eat or have fun. The school is very small and i dont like that there is no extra curricular activities available.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

The band and our football team is good. The teachers are very caring and concerned about the students education.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The advice I would give to parents/or students about finding the right college and making the most of the college is experience is for one, try to find a school that will give your child a full ride or at least an opportunity to go to school for free to prevent of being in so much debt after graduation. Also for the student make sure it is the type of environment you want to be in, but even you don't want to be in such environment then you could always be your own individual and split yourself away from that environment with the exception of making friends and knowing when to be around different things. Don't try to fit in, just be yourself and you will go far. Once you get to college, students don't flunk out trying to fit in or being something that you're not because at the end of the day just be yourself and you will do good when most won't. Also before you join any organizations get familiar with the organizations and clubs and also become very acquainted with your professors because that will take you very far.

What kind of person should attend this school?

One who is focused on getting the one on one help with college professors and students who are focused and ready to learn. Also a person who should attend this school are any people who have low-income in there family because like me I haven't had get in debt because I've had enough scholarships and financial aid to cover me.

This school has a very good music department for the price that you pay to go here. Very good teachers that know what they are doing; you will leave a better musician.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Make sure that you VISIT THE CAMPUS!!!!! You would be surprised at how many people just apply to a school, get accepted, do not visit until orientation, and then realize that the school isn't what you expected it to be. Go on a campus tour and make sure that you go while school is in session. Sit in on a future class, talk to professors and department chairs, and most importantly, talk to a couple of regular students(who are not tour guides) to get a real idea about the prospective college and whether or not it is right for you.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

That we have an on-campus recording studio and I get to have class and work in it. Ha!!!

Describe the students at your school.

Some show up for class on time and communicate about the lectures, while others play sports and slack off.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would first look at what your child wants to become in life, and talk to different school counselors about what they offer. Then I would compare cost because it really starts to add up. I would also choose a school that is not far so they can still occasionally go home. I would also talk to school police officers and learn the facts about what the school does in emergencies after the VA Tech massacre.
