By the second semester Emerson males go gay and depressed Emerson females dye their hair, start smoking and wear converse with tight black jeans. Artsy kids, with emo emotions and a lot of money.

Arrogant, conceited, rich, bratty, snobby, pompous, hipsters, trendy, and weird.

That we're dirty kids with cool haircuts and burnt lungs.

Stereotypes (mainly what students from BU, BC, etc. think) are that there are a lot of gay Emerson students and also a lot of rich students.

That we're exclusive, clique-ish, artsy-fartsy, outcasts, etc.

When the Duck Tours of Boston drive by Emerson College, they make the joke that each student will be gay or smoking in 4 years, or they should get their money back. The kids are also known for being obnoxiously trendy, and even snobby about how "unique" they are (or want to be).

The two main stereotypes here are that all the guys are gay and that everyone smokes.

We're a bunch of hipsters that talk way too much about postmodernism and think we know everything about film/radio/literature/what have you. Oh, and EVERYONE smokes.

Emerson: Amazing, a landmark, expensive. Students:Very emo type of college kids, rich, smart, passionate, very communicatively and entertainment driven.

The major stereotype is that Emerson students are the "outcasts" who don't fit into your usual jock/prep/nerd categories. Emerson students are said to be very liberal, with a large portion of gay students, potsmokers, musicians, and students with odd hair and dress. Also, Emerson students are typically more creative than math-inclined.

When I've told people I go to Emerson I get this response "Oh, so you go to school with the different people" or they just give me a look as if they automatically know what type of person I am and back away slowly, meaning that I'm loud, visually expressive in my wardrobe and persona, and create drama whenever possible.

People think that Emerson has a high percentage of gay students, or that Emerson is only for artsy students, that all Emerson students are scene and smoke.

Everyone is Gay."gay by May or your money back" is a popular phrase. Everyone smokes cigarettes. Everyone smokes pot. It is filled with pretentious hipsters.

They're all gay, They all smoke, They are all pretentious.

I think Emerson students are stereotyped as being overly artsy, in a negative and pretentious way.

Emerson is very theater driven - and unless you want to become an actor its not for you. Everyone at Emerson is a freak. Emerson doesn't have a campus.

Emerson students seem to think that other Emersonians are weird, depressed, angsty, artsy individuals who don't really fit in anywhere else. People who don't go to Emerson who I have spoken with associate Emerson students with trust funds, rich kids who wanted to go to an expensive arts school with no real arts classes to speak of.

That the film people are all stuck up artsy liberals and that all the guys in the theatre department are gay.

Emerson is known for it's awesome hands on approach to film and tv production as well as the best radio station and highly specialized theater program. Students are stereotyped as rich kids and high maintenance.

Only Gay men go to Emerson. Film kids are only into their art. Theater kids are all either gay, crazy, or both. Journalism kids are stuck up. Writing, Lit. and Publishing majors just don't know what they want to do in life.

They all wear tight pants and are mostly pretentious. Everyone smokes cigarettes and none of us got into NYU. There are various groups like the hipsters and the techies.

People think all kids at emerson have pink hair and/or look like a walking Urban Outfitters ad. Oh, also smokers. Can't really blame them for the last one...the smokers at our school LOVE taking over Boylston St. between classes. Dramatic. "Artsy". Emo.

According to the general public, Emerson students are all gay or bi, wear tight, emo clothes and messenger bags, hold a latte in one hand and a cigarette in the other, have dyed hair and thick-rimmed glasses, and suck at sports.

Some stereotypes of Emerson are that we're all hipsters. We're weird. We're all hippies.

Emerson students are considered the werid art students. I was actually told once , "you mean you want to go to that school where all the werid kids go?" I say Yeah, why wouldn't i? but none the less, there is this sterotype. At the same time they are considered smart hardworking students. It is considered the anti-party school.

Probably that we're all gay and pretentious... at least the film and theater majors.

There is the typical gay emerson stereotype. Also the very pampered socialite rich girl. There is the angry film student/stoner stereotype. And the Musical Theatre major who sings all the time.

Super pretentious art students who dress funny and are at least half gay.

That we're all "hipsters" or "indie-kids."

The stereotypes of emerson students are as follows; We are all gay. We are all smokers. We are all pursuing careers that will leave us poor and homeless. We are percieved by others to be bad at math, crazy, free- spirited, creative and artistic.

People who go here are your typical theatre geeks, P.E. kids, goths, "emo kids"

Most people believe Emerson students are "art freaks." Even on some of the Boston tours, the guides will point to Emerson and say, "there's the fruit stand."

They're hipsters, they smoke, they think they're avant-garde, they have an east-coast attitude
