I was recruited by Emory and Henry by a coach /recruiter who said they were going D2 , would be giving scholarships, and he could see me being the backup running back. It sounds good, but don’t believe anything this school tells you. It’s a money grab! They recruited me and then I didn’t even dress out.I had never heard of Emory and Henry-would never have gone there had they not pursued me.Other players got fed the same line. Even a starter said he asked himself every day why he ever went there because the school was so bad. The food is horrible, but on campus students have to get a food plan. Campus socials-approx 20/people. I was assigned a house on campus with athletes that was spider infested w paint peeling everywhere, but it was better than the rundown dorms. Forget rest- a train comes in front of the campus several times a day and night. I wouldn’t go back even if I were starting. It was that bad. Virginia has better colleges.

My overall opinion about Emory and Henry is that they tried to get every student involve with something. There is always help of you need some. They make you feel like you party of a family. You don't have to be involve in sport. They have many different activity student can get involved in.

I love Emory & Henry! I am so glad that I chose to go here! It provides a great community feel and many educational opportunities. The college may be small, but it is what creates the rural community around it. The opportunities are endless when you go to E&H!

Hannah

Terrible school overall, the only people leaving good reviews are probably staff or the few people involved for in our pathetic excuse for Greek life

Emory & Henry College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Emory & Henry College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Emory & Henry College is 69%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I was able to return to high school and speak to my former self, I would advise the inexperienced, naive adolescent before me to straighten up and realize that the future is what truly matters. As a youth I was far more concerned with what party was coming up, or what the outcome of the big game was, then what college I would attend, or the career I would land in. I realize now that this was a severe lack in judgement. I would explain to myself that none of the trivial teenage ideals will matter in the five years to come, and if I am more studious and concentrate on my future, that I will undoubtedly achieve all of the goals that I will one day aspire to. Post high school life is more difficult than any seventeen year old will realize, and I would make sure that the version of myself I was speaking to understood that fact, and took care of business while the opportunity was still available, rather than wasting my effort and delaying my adult self's success.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The location is probably the worst part of the school. Seven miles from Abingdon seems like it is in the middle of nowhere. Also, as a Christian, sometimes the beliefs and values that I have are questioned or thrown out completely. Not that all colleges do not have this, but i feel that this is very influential in how I rate my experience here.
