My name is Katelyn Renshaw, and I graduated high school in 2006. Now, returning to college for the second time with a new major, I have grown older and wiser. At times I wish I could go back to 2006-Kate and shake sense into her, or at least guide her in the right ways. I would want to tell her to not be so shy during the first year of college. Get involved in clubs and organizations so you can make friends, and be involved in campus life. Do your best for no one but yourself. Volunteer your time to different causes so you can explore new interests. Keep your advisement appoints; University staff members are there to help! I would want to tell my former self that mistakes do not determine who you are; failures are a part of life, so accept that and keep trying. Most, I wish I could say this: Find out who you are. And then decide who you want to be. Take the steps necessary to be that person, whoever it is. Do not apologize, and do not let other people sway you.
The University of Phoenix is very proactive when it comes to making sure the students have everything they need to suceed. They provide the students with interactive library resourses as well as help from the IT professionals 24/7/365. If you have questions you have a team of your own that you can ask, in addition to the classroom instructors. The way that the classes are set up are such that you work hard to learn in each class and upon on reflection at the end of the class you find yourself amazed about how much you learned.
How much work each class actually is. It is worth it in the long run but it can get a bit overwhelming.
