Its a good solid school, with a good culture. The teachers are always willing to help and be there for the students, and if your specific teacher isn't available there's usually someone else always ready to help anyone. Everyone is willing to help everyone, and that type of culture makes for a great college experience on everyone's part.

it is a safe learning environment and has an average class size of 12 to 1. I enjoyed some of the outdoor class i took last semester and i know its worth the hassle

It is overall a great school to attend. It is a school for all ages, just like any other colleges but this one is a lot easier especially for parents because there is a child care service. The professors here are amazing, they’re all so helpful. They do not rest until a student is fully understanding the material.

Overall, I honestly love ECC. The class sizes are small and personal, so it is easy to talk to the teacher and ask questions. The professors are all really kind and reasonable, I have not had one who isn’t. It’s pretty easy to knock out your hard courses here, and everyone is really nice. I was out of school for two years. When I went back to school, my overall grade for all semesters is a 4.0. I really enjoy my time here. It also gives me an idea of what I would want to pursue as a career with it’s vast variety of course choices. I highly recommend Erie Community College.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

    About to finish my Associates degre, I have plenty of things to say to myself. I would tell myself to make the most of the last few months of senior year. Don't catch 'senioritis' and act as if this is your big break to relax and be out of school. The reality is: you are an adult now and you have to support yourself in the near future. Well paying jobs require a skill and/or a great deal of intelligence. Sticking to books and continued education will ensure that there will be a well paying job at the end of the road so that you can support yourself and have a life that you choose. Don't believe your friends when they say taking a year off is better for the mind. Sticking with it and continuing to work hard now will ensure a more near end of reaching your goal. When I left high school I had the attitude of giving up, no concern for my future, a vauge idea of what I wanted from life. College has made me realize that my life is up to me, and I 'm determined to succeed.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

    The worst thing about my school is the stigma attached to its name. In the local community, Erie Community College is portrayed as, ?the school you attend when you do not get accepted to a four year college?. I believe two year institutions need to strategize how to reinvent their images to reflect the amazing educational opportunities they have to offer. If two year institutions could figure out a way to portray themselves in a better light, the students who attend these schools would feel proud to be among its student body instead of ashamed of their high education establishment.

    E.C.C. is a very diverse school with a staff that is truly helpful to new students just learning the ins and outs of the campus.

    My classmates are very diverse. I have had classmates ranging from 18-60 years of age. What is so incredible about ECC is that everyone comes from different backgrounds and different areas of Western New York. Mixing these different types of people together helps us to learn more about one another and how we are all different people.

  6. Describe your favorite campus traditions.

    My school is best known for being the school of choice to start at after graduating from high school. Our motto is "start here, go anywhere." This is true. ECC offers many classes that transfer over to our larger SUNY schools.

  7. What kind of person should attend this school?

    Induviduals who are interested in a smooth transition into college should attend ECC. It offers an affordable way to ease into the college experience with out the pressures of large lecture halls. I was able to relax and after a semester decide what major I wanted to pursue. Starting in a small community college helps you to explore different majors with ease. Many of the departments are easily accessed. The campus is small which makes it seem less intimidating, and one can agree the less stress, the more learning.

  8. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

    I don't find anything about my school particularily frustrating. All of the profressors that I have had have been very helpful and reasonable. What is frustrating, however, is the perception of my school to highschoolers around western New York. ECC is deemed at a last resort to most highschoolers and isn't praised in anyway. I find that ECC is an excellent start, and it's the perfect place to begin your higher education, especially if you are unsure of a major. With inexpensive tutition and teachers who care, its a great way to stay in school.

    My school is different from other schools for me because it has a awsome family orented enviroment in my opinon. this school made me feel welcome and comfortable and that is rare for a school so large. it almost felt like i was always there and for a 35 year old woman to say that she felt at home returning to collage after so many years thats rare.

    I really wish I knew how good of a campus it was before transfering because of the building setup and structure.

    I brag about how the teachers take care with each student and how they help the students prepare to attend a 4 year university.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
