Ferris State University Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about Ferris State University? Why?

lack of housing

I attend Kendall College of Art and Design which is through Ferris state university. The worst thing that I can consider at Kendall is the expenses for art supplies. Artists spend a great deal of money on art supplies/books in order to persue their dreams. While students at a regular college pay for books, students at an art school have to pay for drawing paper, pencils, paint, markers, etc each week for their classes. On average, art student spend around $400 a month on art supplies.

The cost of attendance for ut of state students but its cheaper than most schools.

robably the worst part of school is the start of a new assignment. The blank page is full of possibilities and coming up with one idea and committing to it can be a challenge. Once you get over the blank page blues and your light bulb clicks on it is smooth sailing from there. Also don’t be afraid of the dumb idea, those ideas often lead to something truly remarkable but it takes getting them out of the way to get to the good stuff.

I would say that the worst thing about Ferris State University is that it is located in Big Rapis which is a very small town where there isn't much to do.

The worst thing about the school is the parking. Even if you pay the $100 a semester for a parking pass finding a spot is pretty hard especially because of the on campus housing there are very limited parking lots for people who live off campus.

The worst thing about Ferris State University would be how far it is from home. I'm an out-of-state student, and it's really hard to be away from everything I know, and everything I'm use to. Ferris State is a whole different world, and I'd really enjoy if my two worlds were closer connected.

It is more expensive than a community college.

Their technology. It is often difficult to make my at home technology match their's. Often I have had difficulty viewing their Tegrity system which allows the instructor a means of videoing or video chatting during the course so that online students may have direct contact. Nice in theory but generally fails.

There is quite a bit of diversity here based on our total student population, however often the different minorities don't interact with one another or the majority. It's really a shame because it inhibits students from working with different types of people which is a skill that is important after graduation.
