This university has the small college feel but has many opportunities and majors. I love attending this school! The dorms are not like normal college dorms. The professors are great and so are the building they teach in. I definitely recommend this university to any incoming freshman.

This college campus is inviting and has lots to offer. My daughter is attending this college and the dorms are new and offer great space, along with most everything you need. Just bring your brain and the basics. Easy to get to lots of local attractions. FGCU is an Awesome location in sunny Florida.

In my opinion I am in love with Florida Gulf Coast University. It is a great school and has wonderful professors and a beautiful campus. However, the surrounding area does not offer much for students to do in their free time. The campus itself is beautiful and very clean. It has a lot to offer to its students on campus, but not off campus. The housing for freshman is amazing. Students have their own sleeping area, which not many colleges offer and you can have up to two other roommates or even room by yourself. The campus is very safe and people are very friendly. FGCU does its best to try to help and benefit its students

What is your overall opinion of this school?

It has promise. I think for a small university it has plenty of amenities. It has a big focus on business majors and the like. It has a focus on sustainability but they need to practice what they teach. The professors sometimes make it hard to form a relationship. They are very STEM focused and for someone who is in the Liberal Arts there is less focus here. The food is average and overpriced. The surrounding area has shopping outlets, restaurants, and grocery stores. There is clubs here and the sport both competitive and recreational. There is a minimal diversity with caucasians being the majority.

Ever since I first toured Florida Gulf Coast University I knew it was the place for me. The campus is smaller than most University, but it allows me to get to know a lot of the people around me and definitely make it easier for me to get to my classes. The faculty and staff are always willing to help as long as you ask, and with the smaller classroom sizes I don't feel left out when I need help on the subject matter. Overall FGCU is absolutely amazing and should be at the top of everyones lists of schools to check out. Go Eagles!

I have never felt more at home while away from home. Florida Gulf Coast University is everything that I could ever ask of a college. The on campus facilities are amazing, the campus is absolutely gorgeous, and most of all the classes/professors are amazing. I am currently in my sophomore year and I have yet to come across a "bad" professor. Always available and wanting to help, the professors at FGCU care about me. They want me to succeed and accomplish my goals. It is so uplifting when that I have a community that will back me and help me rise up towards my potential.

Florida Gulf Coast University us pretty great. Housing is probably one of my favorite things; you basically get your own room and only have to share a bathroom with one other person. Everyone I have met so far is really nice and helpful. Food is okay but not terrible.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I started at Florida Gulf Coast University after transferring from Florida Southwestern State College, which is a much smaller school. The change of size was different for me at first, but after being at FGCU for just over a year, it’s the perfect size. The school is big enough to where you feel like you get the full college experience, but small enough to where you pass people you know whole walking across campus. The parking garages have become fuller since I started attending, making it difficult to find parking, but the school has provided overflower to accommodate this difficulty. The food options are abundant, allowing you to eat somewhere different each day of the week on campus, with a greater variety just five minutes from the school. The professors are extremely accommodating, willing to meet with you to answer any questions or assist with any difficulties the students may face. The classes are moderately sized, ranging from twenty to forty people, which allow you to grow closer to your fellow students and professors. I am in the history department, which is among the smallest of the departments, but it permits all of the students to become friends. With limited upper level history classes, I see the same people in each class. The history department has become a, sort of second family for me, since I spend so much time with my fellow classmates, studying and hanging out with them in between classes. Florida Gulf Coast University has only been around for twenty years, but it has grown into a great school that strives to accommodate its students. There are sororities, fraternities, clubs, and honor societies on campus that help the students become more involved with their school and fellow students. There are various events held on campus throughout each semester that help alleviate stress from academic life. Our school is very active in the athletics, with students buying out home game tickets for basketball. Every student is required to do service learning hours in order to graduate, ranging from forty to eighty hours depending on whether a student is a transfer student or not. This enables students to get outside of the classroom and gain hands on experience either in their career routes or in the community. In conclusion, Florida Gulf Coast University has been a wonderful school, and I plan on continuing my education there in the history graduate program.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I genuinely like the campus and the people around me, but I am not too fond of the surrounding towns. I am a person that always needs to be doing something and there are a lot of on-campus activities, but I wish there was more to do off-campus. The school itself is equipped with great professors and other staff members and my classes are all interesting and the workload is perfectly capable.
