I decided to go to FIU because of my family history with FIU. My father and other close relatives are all FIU alumni and so I wanted to share that experience and status with them. When I was younger I would go to FIU for my cousin's softball games, and so I've always been a golden Panther at heart. It also helps that I live very close to a great university, so the decision and choice was clear to me after high school.
I decided to go to Florida International University because it was close to my house and very affordable. Out of all the universities I applied to and got into, FIU offered me the most in scholarships. I was sure after I participated in the orientation that FIU would give me more opportunities to learn, interact and grow.

I am aware of the other Schools in Dade-County, Broward County, and the Palm Beaches. This school tailored all of the opportunities I was seeking.
It's all about diversity, establishing global perspective, and living in Miami. FIU has all three. Why not FIU then? Worried about the rankings? Look them up on Wikipedia. We're a serious school about rankings. Worried about the place? It's Miami...Palm Trees FTW!
