Beatriz

It's a great school and it is also very affordable, especially for those attending just for the first two years in order to later go on to get a higher education and save money along the way. One thing I love about this school is all the help you can get on campus with tutoring.

Megan

It's a great college that you can learn and get a your education. Their are many teachers who help you achieve those goals.

Beatrice

I like my experience, I'm only there for a little bit of time. I feel like I'm getting the best education I could get. I like the teachers and students. everyone is nice, I like the cafe and bookstore. I enjoyed living in the dorms, there are security guards there 24/7.

Nathalie

Florida SouthWestern State College is a practical community college that is great for students looking for one on one attention and reliable instructors. FSW has three campuses which allow for a variety of class since all campuses are located in southwest of Florida and can be easily accessed. While FSW is small there a surprising amount of students engagement opportunists out side of class with various events and clubs begin consistently offered to students. FSW is great school for anyone looking to save on education while still getting a top notch education.

Alexis

Overall, I was satisfied with this college. I mostly attend the second-largest campus, so there isn't that much activities like the major known campus. I love how affordable the classes is and how it's near home. I was able to obtain my associate's and satisfy my prereqs.

Brittany

I love FSW! The students are all extremely nice and everyone gets along great. The professors are very helpful and want to make sure that you understand what you're learning. It's easy to get ahold of admissions, financial aid, and advisement if you need to and everything runs very smoothly here.

Megan

Overall, Florida Southwestern State College is okay. Most of the professor's are competent, though some of them bite off more than they can chew. This results in assignments being graded 8 weeks after being submitted and having no chance of improving your grade.

Serena

Florida Souhwestern has been nothing but great to me. Everyone is so kind and caring. There’s no school I’d rather be!

Danika

I don't attend the big Fort Myers campus but the Naples one and I love it. I love the small campus feel of the school and feeling like you can really talk to people. I have been to the bigger campus though because I know some people thrive on bigger campuses and everyone who goes there says it's a really good campus. The dorms are amazing and so are the professors, I do recommend it as a school to get started with.

Alexa

its a great college! pays close attention to the needs of all its students like a community college would, but also has grown into a wonderful university. Great class sizes and wonderful academics. Interested to see what my future beholds as a current edison student.

Abbigail

It is a very affordable establishment. Unfortunately, this does mean that resources can be limited on campus. However, funds are pretty well-distributed and there are event opportunities to study abroad. I can say that the school does its best to work with every student to find the best path for you, and do their best to help you financially. Overall it is a well-rounded school with lots of options, and the tuition is low, allowing for just about anyone with decent grades and character to attend.

Jonathan

It is honestly a great school, there is plenty of activities to do and get involved in. The faculties make sure that students tend to have fun and be involved with events that they have on the campus. They also make sure that the students are secure and feel safe.

My fist semester at Edison State College was Fall 2016 and at that time I was living on campus. Leaving home and starting my life on campus was exciting, yet melancholy. I was sad to leave my family, yet I was filled with joy to start my new “adult” life. With freedom, came expenses and with expenses came a need for a job. Once I started working and having to pay for everything, I couldn’t participate in many school activities, such as basketball games, movie nights and Halloween haunted houses. I lack the curricular activity portion but academically I was pleased. All my professors are experience within the field they teach. All the staff go beyond my needs.

Maci

Florida Southwestern State College is a small, comfortable school. I really enjoy being a student there. The professors are all so helpful and truly care about the well-being of each student. Small class sizes make it very easy to ask questions and have class discussions about a variety of topics. Overall, FSW is a great school and I would recommend it to anyone in the Naples, FL area!

Nicole

Online classes are really great, especially when we have discussions, I see all parts of the discussion and everyone's opinions are respected. The professor's are always attentive with their inboxes and responding to their students. There isn't too much work load either.

Lea

Edison State College is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. It has a great selection of classes, but teachers are hit or miss. I attended both the Punta Gorda and Ft Myers campuses and I definitely prefer the Punta Gorda one. Staff is friendly and helpful and the camousss are small and easy to navigate.

Kasie

Formally known as Edison State College, Florida Southwestern State College is the perfect place for everyone. They offer free tutoring services, free therapist, just about anything you need, you will find on campus. There are 4 campuses around South west Florida. Fort Myers is the hub.

Gabriela

It’s a really big school so the professors have many students. Your success matters to no one but your self. Don’t expect many to notice if you don’t show up to school unless you have a buddy in class. Student who show up actually come to learn so classes are quiet and don’t expect to make many friends. The magority of the school isn’t really involved. It’s rare to meet someone living on compus. The food is great but expensive. Study help is greatly provided. They have a writing, math and other centers where they’re a tutor to help.

Elizabeth

I actually really love it here. As a 27 year old re-entry student, I feel at home here. The faculty is very supportive. They have writing and math centers that are open 7 days a week. There is so much support here if you take advantage of the things they offer you. I am going here to get my A.A. or general education done for an overall cheaper college tuition. Over all, I absolutely love it here and I would recommend to anyone trying to further their education.

Melany

Its a great campus where you have good resources, a great staff, good teachers and you feel safe on campus even in the late afternoons. Its quiet and peaceful and has great opportunities and is a safe environment for everyone. theres always something interesting going on on the campus that encourages students to vote, or to participate in clubs or events.

megan

I love the college and the professors are always available. Their are always something to do on campus and it’s always a big turnout. Also so many different clubs to join every semester. The food is amazing and the campus is very diverse and the school has even put in a stadium for sports games .

Adriana

I think its a great college to start at. Its not a big college but you do get your education and what you need for a cheaper price.

Tasheanna

Florida SouthWestern State College is a great college to go to. This college is affordable, and all its campuses are beautiful! There are many wonderful professors who are willing to help you along with an Academic Center where you can improve your studies. There are also a lot of diverse students who are extremely helpful and nice. The class sizes are not too big, so it makes it easier on the professor to help each individual student more. There are various extracurricular activities from politics to gaming to the arts; pick which ever one you desire! The food in the cafeteria is delicious and if you do not prefer it, then you can choose to go to any restaurant nearby since they are close in range. Plenty of attending students are academic-focused and will always take their school work seriously! There are also a ton of events that FSW hosts throughout the school year, which enhances your college experience. This is such an amazing school!

Annamarie

The school is relatively okay. There isn't too much happening at the Collier Campus unless there's a special event going on. The professors are easy to work with and are typically willing to help you. There's also free academic support centers to get help on assignments.

Yves

Florida SouthWestern State College is a local college that provide many opportinies that will allow you to attain an associate degree with ease. The free access tutoring and library hours make it its own study area, The campus also includes many clubs and activities were students may socialize. Its a great college but I would only stay til im ready to transfer.

Joey

Edison State College is outstanding. There is always a sense of campus life, the class size is generally small, and it is affordable. In addition, the professors are nice and strive to better your education. Every time I walk in, I always feel accepted. I truly enjoy attending this college.

Nancy

My overall review on Florida SouthWestern State College, formally known as Edison State College, is an 8/10. FSW offers student resources, Cornerstone course, and workshops, although it offers this there are areas that can be improved for a better student life. Resources that are available to FSW students are yoga lessons that are offered once a week, grounding techniques that are offered in this class can be used when a student is feeling overwhelmed. The Gay and Straight Alliance Club offers weekly meeting for student that need guidance or help due to their sexual orientation. Rape Aggression Defense System course , R. A. D., that teaches basic physical defense movements . This small course is offered to all FSW female students and staff. After the individuals have completed the three day long course, a certificate of completion is provided. Due to the recent assaults that have occurred on campus and school dorms, I strongly believe all females should attend this course. I have noticed more security officers patrolling the campus ever since the assaults came to light. Which is why I believe there is room for improvement at FSW. FSW offers evening classes and should of had people patrolling our campus for the students safety. Cornerstone, is a course firs time college students are obligated to take. This course made me realize that college is not for everyone and that sacrifices will have to be made for you to become a graduating student. Cornerstone has an assignment that is called Go Picture Scribe, GPS. This assignment makes us explore our campus and see what it has to offer. We have a math, writing, oral communication center. These centers offer students with guidance and assistance when needing reassurance and peace of mind. The GPS assignment has you meet up with an academic advisor. To see your academic advisors an appointment must be made. Appointments are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. . Meeting your academic advisor assures that you are taking the current courses for your degree. Academic advisors are only available during typical working hours, this is not convenient for all student. Academic advisors should offer evening hours for student that have a completed schedule. Offering late hours twice a week could take a burden off current full time working students. FSW offers First Year Experience workshops for student that need assistance with new applications or help in academics. I attended a Prezi workshop , which is an alternative to PowerPoint. Prezi allows you to enhance your class presentation or project. One can also attend student socials like "Talking Stress and Anxiety" and "Test Taking Strategy". These socials give you more student inside on how to deal with your new student life. Student resources, workshops and the Cornerstone course are that FSW offers to freshman students. FSW is a great campus, I do appreciate how far this school has come. Our school campus has a lot of resources, taking advantage of them helps you to become a better student.

Noah

I've always wanted to attend a college like Florida State University or The University of Florida, but i thought it would be best to transition from a smaller community college. I decided to go to Edison/Florida Southwestern and it has been one of the best experiences for being such a small school. I do love the small group atmosphere it brings, but maybe I haven't experienced a big classroom yet. This school is small, but growing. I expect there to be a huge growth in the amount of people attending in the coming years

Lindsay

Students who don't attend this school have negative comments because we are a small school. But after starting here it is really enjoyable. The class hours are flexible, teachers are always available and the school tries to make the days fun for us and get students involved.

Aria

Edison States College is great place to earn that 2 year degree and head to higher places. Though many look down on this school , it is a great community filled with a wide variety of intellects. A lot of students find the school to be affordable and better way to earn a quality education while moving on to greater heights.

Vyctoria

I don't know too much about campus life, I live off campus at home and I usually have one online class with a class that is on campus once a week. Based on my experience the classes are fairly large and comfortable. The cafeteria provides a variety of food and beverages though I haven't really eaten from there much the times I did it was good. They provide good services, as well as accessibility to more than I know of.

Michaela

I loved this school, except its no longer called Edison state its called Florida South Western state college. The atmosphere is awesome. Sometimes i just liked to walk around campus cause it was a nice view. I was never housed at FSW but I heard they are nice living arrangements. The professors were available whenever you could catch them at school and always responding to emails. I very much enjoyed all of FSW has to offer, the only thing i would hope they do differently is add some sports.

Gavin

Great state school for those who plan on getting their associates here. The staff is friendly and they'll do what they can to help you with whatever you need help with. Professors are always open for students to stop by during hours which is helpful considering I have a few online classes and they always tell me to come in whenever I need to. Great school!

Joseph

It is one the Best college in Fort Myers. All classrooms are wonderful. Teachers always available to help. The location is perfect and easy to find. They have plenty packing space. Every student always feel happy and safe. They always have somebody there to help you.

Cassidee

I really enjoyed my time spent at this school. I dual-enrolled full time my Junior and Senior year of High School, which allowed me to graduate with my Associates Degree for free! The campus is nice and the staff is very friendly. It is a good transition school that prepared me for a proper University. I also really appreciated the smaller campus as it prevented me from getting too overwhelmed too early on.

Joseph

I enjoy the variety of certificates, degrees, and programs offered at Edison State College (currently known as Florida Southwestern State College). They range from Computer Science to Psychology or even Firefighter certificates. The programs provide opportunities for people of all ages to pursue a career they want. Their best programs are the Healthcare programs. These include the Nursing, Physical Therapy, and EMT programs that are a great upstart if you want to pursue a career in healthcare.

Patricia

FSW is a great school for different age groups, either if you are finishing high school and looking for dual enrollment, or if you are coming back to get your degree years after you finished it. Staff will guide you through the process and be there for you if you need something. Many students start here and transfer later for the Universities the need to go to finish their degrees. There are different locations, campi are clean and safe.

SHANTELL

I went to Florida Southwestern for two years and finished with my AA in May 2017. I felt very comfortable as a student at this college and always had the resources I needed. Teachers, peers, and academic support advisers were always helpful when needed. I will be going back to FSW in August for the Fall 2018 nursing program. Look forward to new adventures and satisfied with my choice.

Ivonne

FSW is a community college that provides students with the necessary resources and tools to succeed. Professors are very much willing to help, and are there to see you succeed. They go above and beyond. Campus life is great; peer mentors are a big thing at FSW and they are sweet, encouraging, and most importantly, inspiring! They have a wide variety of courses to choose from, and even offer some Bachelor's and Master's programs, which some community colleges don't offer. Overall, FSW has been an amazing experience thus far.

Andrew

I am going to love FSW! The campus provides wonderful learning opportunities and advancements, with a smaller classroom size so the professors have the ability to make sure the students comprehend the information taught. Many of the recreational facilities have been newly built for all of the students to enjoy, which is quite relaxing after a long day of classes and tests.

Megan

I have been attending this school ever since my junior year of high school because of the accelerated learning program that was offered at the high school. I have enjoyed my experience there through the years and I have felt safe and in a helpful, positive environment. As the years went by though, that feeling slowly disappeared and I felt a little more lonely; the school was not how it used to be because my graduating class had left it for their own pursuits. Regardless, I have enjoyed taking courses here and everything is acceptable to me. I wish some rooms were more taken care of, the student lounges more specifically. But besides that, the environment is very friendly and most people are very nice to be around.

Maddy

FSW was a great transition school. I started classes there at 14 and it definitely prepared me for the college life. The teachers are great (at least, most of the teachers I ever had were very good). The students tend to keep to themselves, but I never minded that.

Amanda

I actually attend the Collier Campus not the Lee Campus but I would say it is a really nice school to get your foot in the door as far as college goes. If you wish to stay and finish a program they have there that is great but since there is only a select handful of programs there I would say its a great start than transfer to a University.

Hannah

Okay for a state school. Lots of drinking and drugs. All my professors I have had were wonderful, smart, and caring. The campus is nice, not to big but sometimes you will need to rush in between classes. All my classmates were helpful, but sometimes the talking would get out of hand.

Madison

It’s a very nice school, most of the teachers I’ve had have been really good & helpful. The campus is beautiful, there’s a fountain surrounded by trees that I enjoy to visit; it’s very calming to do so during finals too. I enjoy the classes I’ve taken as well, microbiology being one of my favorites. Overall it’s a very good school.

Mohamed

Florida Southwestern State College is a good college for me

Ayesha

Within a 3 year span, FSW has been a great school. There are several opportunities, all it takes is for students to dig and do some research. The faculty and students have been helpful whenever there are questions about assignments or needing general information.

Kendall

Fsw was a great school. Easy access, easy classes, and for the most part great professors. Never had an issue and loved that I could be dual enrolled and take college classes in high school. All in all, great school and would recommend for those looking for a community college.

Kaitlyn

Advising is okay, until you find the right advisor the experience is great ! Campus feels very safe. All financial aid offices are awesome to dea with . There are numerous classes offered . Overall it is a great way to start your degree . Students are very helpful all the time . All classes are located closely for convenience!

Aubrey

I am currently a dual enrollment student at Florida SouthWestern State College (“FSW”). My dream is to continue my education and earn a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I have taken many classes at FSW’s Naples, Florida campus and the classes have shaped me in my studies and personal life. I am really glad that I had English my first semester, because my Professor started out with exercises that helped me get to know my fellow classmates. As a result, I have gotten to know so many people on campus, and I always feel involved. Also, I took Oceanography this past semester, and it was such an amazing course. My Professor had us go out in the field, and we learned so much about southwest Florida’s environment. My Professor was an exceptionally caring person. My back was in a lot of pain one day, and my Professor contacted my mom to come and get me. She even helped me to my mom’s car. I really enjoyed my Ethics course, too. My Professor was not only informative, but he also discussed the subject in such a manner that I thought about it even outside of class. He would often stay after class, and answer any questions. When I was considering what college to attend in the future, he told me to not just consider what the college can do for me, but what I can do to have the best college experience. He encouraged me to set goals for myself and do my best to achieve them. In conclusion, I have had a great experience as a dual enrollment student at FSW. My experiences at the Naples Campus have been exceptional. The Professors are extremely knowledgeable, accessible, and caring. FSW has always been welcoming and now I feel like a have a family there. I have always wanted to study abroad, and FSW has made this dream come true. This summer I will be going on a trip to the Galapagos to conduct research on the tortoises that inhabit the islands. I will treasure this trip the rest of my life.
