Florida State University Top Questions

Hot-button issues on campus change all of the time it's really hard to keep track. If you are looking to get involved on campus Florida State has political parties that you can join, run for office and debate those hot-button topics that circulate through campus. They have weekly meetings as well as public campaigns that get the entire school involved. They have public debats and the winning team run the new student government that can help decide things like what kinds of restaurants to get on campus.

The biggest issue I've seen on campus over the past few weeks has been about our Governor Rick Scott. He's been pushing recently to cut funding to most liberal arts programs and basically anything that he doesn't see as something that 'creates jobs.' While that sounds great in theory, not every student at FSU wants to be an engineer or a doctor so as you can imagine that this is causing quite the bit of ruckus. With education becoming increasingly expensive and parents finding themselves unemployed with students about to enter college, it appears we have quite the problem in our hands. Some has to take a cut and it seems to boil down to whether the top will take this cut, or the bottom. The part that the bottom is upset about lies in the fact they don't get to make that decision.
