Florida State University Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Janna

There isn't really anything that I find frustrating about FSU. I am happy with the dorms, the classes, the campus, and even the food. Everything I need that is not on campus is very close and there is transportation provided.

Carolina

Parking in the late morning/early afternoon.

Michelle

The most frustrating thing about this school is by far the parking situation. During the week days, parking on campus is nearly impossible unless you get here extremely early or are lucky. That was one of the reasons I decided to get an apartment that was in walking distance of campus.

Michelle

I feel the most frustrating thing is the lack of available jobs on campus. They are at such a high demand, often wanting students who have had experience in a particular area such as food service or cashier experience. As most of my work experience has been with children, it puts me at a loss in the competition for the scarce amount of jobs available.

renu

Library was very difficult to use.

Jordan

It is diffucult to get classes from different departments. Since I hope to be a medical illustrator, I need both art and science classes but the departments are difficult to bridge.

Evan

Registering for classes and parking is often frustrating.

Dennice

Finding parking can become exceedingly difficult.

Kelly

Class size is very large and some of the professors are more focused on their research than they are on the classes they teach.

Nadia

Tallahassee is a very hilly place. It took some getting used to after coming from Orlando. Also, there aren't that many roads that get you where you need or want to go, so it's faster to walk places.

Katherine

Currently, there is a lot of construction on campus.

Renae

The most frustrating thing about my school, and many schools in general are the unclear requirements necessary to reach goals and obtain a degree. It is sometimes a frusterating process to determine what a student needs to do and what classes need to be taken to meet university requirements a given degree.

Ahmad

Classes, Financial Aid

phong

parking at main fsu campus

Kyle

The most frustrating thing about my school is the cost of tuition while it isn't the most expensive, it isn't the cheapest either. It is not very easy to get a job, work enough to pay for school, while keeping up good grades. That is why I'm appling for this scholarship.

Sarah

Financial Aid.

Katherine

The most frustrating thing about my school is that sometimes a student can feel so little compared to the number of people enrolled. If a student isn't involved in any organizations, it is easy to just get lost in the crowd.

Iza

Honestly, I love FSU. There are a few things that are slightly frustrating though. There is very limited on campus, and even off campus parking. Also, there are certainly not enough dorms to hous ethe students. Other than those two miniscule things, it is AWESOME!

hallie

the vastness of the campus

Kassandra

The most frustrating thing about my school is that the shuttles do not always show up on time and are usually full when they are late.

Hannah

Many people involved in Greek Life think that's the best way to be and if you aren't involved in Greek Life you're not as good as them. I have a great group of friends I met in high school and college and don't feel the need to be in a sorority or date someone in a fraternity to feel like I'm as good as people in Greek orginizations.

samantha

The cost and how hard it is to get to and from.

Ashley

The most frustrating thing about my school is the grading system. For example, I don't think it's fair that an A- be worth less than an A; an A is an A.

Diana

I have no complaints other than the fact that my school like every school has problems from time to time with violence pertaining to robberies.

Marshaun

The most frustrating thing about Florida State is the cafeteria and staff. Every time I enter the cafeteria, I feel that I'm not wanted. The cafeteria workers are very short and rude with the students. They seem to be annoyed all the time, and they make it extremely clear that they don't want to be there. They curse and are always arguing with one another, I have spoken to the management about this, but nothing has changed.

Briana

The most frustrating thing is finding parking on campus.

Alyssa

I've found many of the students up there to be rude and not very open to accepting others all the time. I come from South Florida where it is very liberal, and I'm finding more closed-minded behaviors in Tallahassee, even among students. The staff, too, is not always very helpful when you need something.

Brogan

The bus service is so slow at my school and with such a big campus it is a major pain to walk all the way across campus for your classes. Plus we do not have special buses that take students without cars to places like the mall or the grocery store so unless you want to walk or find someone willing to drive you you are stuck on campus paying way way to much for a gallon of milk.

Paula

The lack of individual attention is the most frustrating thing about my school.

Pilin

Finals week.

Pedro

The most frustrating part of FSU is probably the fact that there is so much to do and you want to go out and do everything but you cannot because there is so much work to do.

Jisell

The weather is very random, it could be hot in the morning and then cold in the afternoon. It rains a lot in Tallahassee, making the walk to class a little bit uncomfortable.

Stephanie

The most frustrating thing about FSU is the residence hall that I am currently living in. I live in Kellum hall, which has been here for many generations. I feel like I am getting robbed of my money by living here because it is very expensive and things are old and constantly break. For instance, the air has to be as cold as possible at all times or else the room will start to mold. If I am paying an arm and a leg to live here, I should be able to control my air temperature!

Nicolle

The food! I guess I just miss the food from home, but the meal plan is both expensive and not healthy.

Kay

The most frustrating thing about Florida State is their bus system. Since the fee is included in your yearly tuition the students see the bus as being "free" so everybody rides it. This makes the buses very congested, with people falling over on each other because all of the twists and turns and the hills. Also, the bus takes forever to get to each stop! I was late to a class once because I waited half an hour for the bus, I might as well have walked to class.

Bailey

The most frustrating thing about my school I would say is that there are a lot of students and sometimes when it comes to registration it is hard to get the classes and times you want in order to fit your schedule because there are just so many people that want and need the same times.

Erin

In my opinion, the most frustrating thing about my school is the small list of department majors they have to offer. I know this from personal experience, as I am pursuing a degree in Atmospheric Sciences/Meteorology. However, because my major is not offered at my school, I am currently enrolled as a Physics major. It is inconvenient and frustrating because my school is very affordable, but because of the path I've chosen, I have to transfer to an out of state college that will be difficult to afford.

Zachary

Not knowing where to go for help with specific problems because some people try to help but do not really know what is going on.

Hanna

There is only ONE bad thing about Florida State University and that is the parking situation. I am new to town and the second day of school I arrived two hours prior to class. I thought surely that was enough time to look for a parking spot and get to class. Little did I know, I would have to circle at least 3 parking garages for two hours and still not know where to go. When I have a noon time class, I get to school around 8 just so I can find a parking spot. It is so frustrating!

Gaetscha

The cost is the most frustrating thing at Florida State University. It seems as though, regardless of the amount I receive through scholarships and grants, the tuition and housing prices are always rising, causing those aids to be just barely enough. Every year I fret that I will not be able to pay tuition. Luckily I put in the extra work to avoid that possibility.

Erin

The fact that we havent beat UF in football recently

Casey

The most frustrating thing about my school is not concerning academics or faculty; it is simply our parking situation. As I?m sure happens at most major universities, there just is not enough parking. As a student living off campus, in order to find a spot on time to make it to class I know that I must prepare to leave at least thirty minutes prior to my class starting.

Danielle

Large class sizes are probably the only down fall this school has. But if you can stay focused and visit or communicate with your prof. outside of the class you will be fine

Jane

Safe bus doesn't drive to off campus housing

Rebekah

The most frustrating thing about my school is probably that it can some times be a pain to find a parking space.

Morgan

The most frustrating thing about my school is the limited about of parking on campus. It is always hard to find a place to park, especially during the school day.

Erica

The most frustrating thing about Florida State University is the parking situation. Most of the time it takes a while to find a stop and sometimes I even get into fights trying to find a parking spot.

Stacey

Probably the location. Tallahassee traffic is pretty insane sometimes.

Catherine

Well, I have just transfered to Florida State this spring. I have found that the more frustrating thing as a transfer student is breaking into the groups that have already formed since freshman year. You have to be really outgoing and want to be a part of a group to make it happen. It can be frustrating when you think that you have nothing more to do than just school, but that can easily be solved by getting involved and being more open to new experiences.

jeanson

I do not like the fact that there are a lot of extra charges included with the tuition. There are fees for transportation and technology among others and I don't feel that we as tuition paying students should be responsible for those expenses. I thought that part of the reason the tuition has increased over the past few years was to help pay for some of those critical resources.
