The campus isn't TOO big, but it's big enough that they have buses in case people don't want to walk that far. So it might be a pain, if you miss the bus or something and have to walk half a mile to get to class..
I do not like the Safe Bus, which is to provide transportation for students at night. They never answer the phone when a student calls, constantly.
Some majors, like mine, are very tought to get into. The visual and performing art majors are usually limited access majors. It is very heart breaking if you don't get in and it is very compeitive to try and get in. The most frustrating thing is trying to get into such small programs.
One frusturating thing about my school is when professors schedule all of their tests on the same day. This happens quite frequently and it is expected of you still be prepared for them all. Another major frusturtating factor about my school is the weather that surrounds it. It tends to rain a lot in Tallahassee and sometimes flooding occurs on campus. Also, the dorms close during breaks and do not open back up until a day or two before class begins making it extremely difficult if you are an athlete.
The most frustrating thing about my school would be not being able to find a job in Tallahassee. There is such a high demand for jobs with three major colleges in one area. It is more than just difficult finding a way to get money.
The bus system is by far the most frustrating thing about Florida State. The routes are very confusing. I can never figure out which one I should take. Sometimes I'll get on a bus that goes off campus when I have class in fifteen minutes. Once you're on the correct bus, it's packed to the gills. You fall onto the person behind you when the bus driver hits the gas and then everyone else falls on you when he hits the brakes. The worst part is you never know if you'll get to class in time.
I would say the food situation on campus. The dining halls close at ten, and many students have very demanding schedules and need to eat later than that. And if you go to one of the other dining facilities on campus the service is slow and the prices are on the edge of ridiculous.
Lines during lunch time at school since there are so many students eating only a few places at around the same time.
The school is somewha overwhelming at first. I takes about a year to get settled in, however that is the case for most large universities.
The most frustrating thing about my school is that I am new to town so I'm not that comfortable going anywhere by myself. This means I have to wait for my friends' schedules to clear up just so I can get some food. It's problematic when I have to wait a month because I ran out of food or laundry detergent.
There isn't enough parking. Luckily I live on campus this year so i rarely use my car, but most commuters spend about an hour looking for a spot.
The most frustrating thing about my school is that it is very competative. Florida State University is a wonderful school and it is an honor to go here. However, academic scholarships are tough to get even if you have straight A's. Also, I am a nursing major, but I have to be accepted first into the College of Nursing which is very limited. As I said, the most frustrating thing about Florida State University is that it is very competitive in more ways then one.
The most frustrating thing is that college is completely different than high school. You can scrape by in high school with studying the bare minimum, but college requires much more thought and engagement in the course material. It's hard to transition but once you do, it benefits you in the long run. Studying can interfere with your personal life but it will definitely help your aspirations and future plans.
The most frustrating thing abot school is figuring out how to divide up time between schoolwork and a social life.
There is a limited amount of parking for commuter students. Sometimes I have to make sure to get to campus a good 45-30 minutes before class to ensure that I will find a spot and won't be late for class.
class scheduling system
Right now my financial status is the most frustrating thing. While the cost to go to FSU is going up, the amount of money that I am getting from financial aid is staying the same. Financial aid already didn't cover everything. My parents just recently got divorced, so they do not have money do give me. On top of that, there are no companies around campus that are hiring. This makes it exptremely hard to pay for my schooling.
I met new people from around the globe. This was the first time I interacted with diverse peoples. I learned about other cultures and gained a respect for them. I did not have a bad experience during my undergraduate years. I really enjoyed faculty, staff and students at Florida State University.
It is very hard to find jobs on or off-campus and school is expensive.
In the afternoons, the buses will arive at their drop-off points about 10 minutes late. Plan accordingly.
The most frustrating thing about my school is the load music dormmates play during night hours.
Trying to make a schedule that allows you to be flexible and have a part time job
The most frustrating thing about my school is the parking and some of the class sizes.
Parking can be an issue at times, but the public and school transportationi are excellent. The drinking scene is very big, especially during football games which lessens the family friendly atmosphere.
Sometimes concerns are not taken care of
I grew up in this town.
Classes can be rather difficult.
The most frustrating thing about my school would be the lack of aid when it comes to finances. Of course I do understand that funds are limited, there are some students that recieve more than they need.
There are certain type of people from an area of Florida that I do not like to be around. But that is it!
when teachers have a strict attendance policy that can affect your grade
There's a little too much drinking going on
The parking is really Bad.
its very far to drive home and the flights are very expensive.
The most frustrating thing about my school is the acrchitecture on the west side of campus which does not reflect the true beauty of the school.
The Seminole Dining is the most frustrating thing about Florida State. The meal plans are not flexible and I feel like students living on campus are forced into buying meal plans that are not benefitting the student as much as they could.
It is very difficult to find work in the city of Tallahassee, due to the number of colleges.
The campus has alot of hills.
One thing that I find frustrating is the large classes during freshman and sophmore years. They could be in the hundreds, and you just don't get the personal attention from professors that would be most desirable.
There are too many TA's teaching classes at this university. Some are pretty good, but there is a shocking amount of meiocrity and just plan aweful teaching ability amoung them.
In my opinion, the most frustrating thing about my school is very limited number of students that they accept for each major. I'm pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education and the program only accepts thirty people a year. This makes it very stressful and unpredictable of whether or not I will get accepted in my major. Several of my friends trying to get a degree in nursing have already realized that they won't get accepted because of the limited availability. If there were more teachers the problem would be fixed greatly.
The rules concerning majors. For example, there is this silly rule that to be a theatre major you have to get a b- in this lecture class that is boring, and has almost nothing to do with theatre. If you don't get the b-, you get kicked out. This really sucks because the BFA program is prestigious. About 2,000 students auditioned for the acting program, and they took six. I was one one of the six! But a semester later I got kicked out because I didn't get a b- in the lecture class.
The most frustrating thing about school is financial aid for out of state students. In state students have lower tuition along with help from bright futures and Florida pre paid and scholarships from the school. While, out of state students have to scrounge for financial age to help attempt to off set the price difference in tuition.
Undergrad classes taught by Graduate students with no passion for the topic or that have difficulty teaching and conveying the material.
Parking issues.
Rumor mill and campus politics
The way they issue football tickets to students-- it's different this year and extremely confusing.
The parknig situation is absolutely terrible!!! you have to get to campus nearly 2 hours before class to get a space!
The most frustrating thing about my school is that some people say they are open-minded, but that ends at the point where your opinion or view does not line up with theirs. Another frustrating thing is when it rains the painted crosswalks and brick sidewalks are very slippery, oh, there are too many silly statues.
Parking has been an issue in the past, but that is in the process of being remedied with new parking garages. I guess the most frustrating thing is the amount of work that we have to do for some classes. It seems like the credits you receive are unrepresentative of the work you have done, but that is specific to courses in the College of Music, not the whole university.
Too many students. Needs more space and buses.
