I wish someone would have told me that FSU 's stereotype was not true. The school has a lot of diffrent ways to have fun besides just alcohol. What the rooms actually contain since I am from out of state. I was not sure on what to bring. Did not know who my roommates were, and what they were bringing so that we did not duplicate items. I wish someone would've warned me that there a few social outlets aimed at the the 23-over crowd in Tallahassee. Most events are geared towards the 18-22 demographic. Sometimes, I'd like to go somewhere that I can meet and mingle with women closer to my own age.

I wish I had known to save more money. Although it was hard to save money in high school because I had many responsibilities, it would have been a great help to have saved more. When I came to Florida State University, I was prepared for being on my own, doing laundry, buying groceries, and paying bills. What I never anticipated, and wish I would have known, was that many of the people I interacted with would become some of my greatest friends; I didn't need to worry. Coming from a smaller high school where everyone was closely connected, I worried about a larger university like FSU and if I could find similar friends. However, I involved myself in academic circles, community service groups, and leadership programs, finding some amazingly talented friends for life.

I wish that I would have been more prepared about the amount of reading that is associated with college education. At my university, reading becomes on the biggest parts of the studying process. I came into college as "undecided" and first semester took random elective courses. Since I knew what I kind of wanted, I decided second semester to switch to an exploratory major which contains a narrow group of related majors to start guiding you in a direction. I wish I had done this originally and then just picked a major sooner because YOU CAN ALWAYS SWITCH! Being decisive and picking a major doesn't mean you're stuck there or it could end up being wrong, instead it just helps you see what you like and don't like sooner.

Emerald

There is nothing else I would have needed to know before coming to Florida State. The orientation programs and advising programs available to students answer any questions one might have regarding academics, social life, etc. I felt fully informed when I got here, and when I did have a question, it was easy to find someone to answer it.
