My school understands how students work differently. Growing up I'v had a learning disability in Math and Writing. So college was always a huge step for me to take. Fort Lewis helps provide me with the things I need to get tutoring, advising, or extra time done. Not only does the Learning Disabilities department understand that I learn in a different way, but the teachers all acknowledge it too. Sometimes I think we go through life and forget that others struggle more than them.
The best thing about Fort Lewis College is how passionate many of the professors are about their work and what they are teaching. When a professor is excited to teach it class, it makes learning the topic more interesting. All of my professors have been very passionate about what they teach. They are all very knowledgeable and have done outside research on the topics they are teaching.
Fort Lewis College is an very open liberal arts college, where teachers encourage students to find out what they want to do with their lives. This means that the teachers really want us to succeed.
The surrounding area (mountains, desert) is uniquely beautiful.
With fewer than three thousand students, Fort Lewis's size is one of the best things about it. Professors have a greater amount of time to spend on individuals then in many universities. With fewer students there are less car emissions, and that helps keep the area surrounding the school beautiful.
I think the best thing about Fort Lewis is the community feel to it. At Fort Lewis College you have small class sizes and very approachable proffessors who are usually willing to help.
Its size and location
Small class sizes, the fact that the proffessors are very interested and engaged with their work and also care about your success. I must say that I have been especially impressed with the chemistry department at this school, not enough good things can be said about those involved with it.
