Franklin and Marshall College Top Questions

Franklin and Marshall students can regularly be found in the library complaining about their heavy workloads and the stress of their classes. While I am often included in this group, I believe the rigorous cirriculum will be beneficial to all students as they enter the post-graduate world. I would have to say the worst thing about my school is simply the price. I know that my tuition and living expenses are putting a huge financial burden on my family. I am happy here, but know it will take a long time to repay the cost of that happiness.

Like most colleges, there is a large amount of drinking.

My school has moronic fools who only care about changing world ideals rather than worrying about themselves and their lives. they do not accept anytihng cultured and will not reflect on the times of old or of past granduers. they like to discriminate against those who want to have more in life and get ahead and say that it is ok to do bad and be procrastinators. they cannot think for themselves and feel that it is, somehow, their civic duty to get involved with the lives of people they do not know. this , to me, is very wrong.

It is very expensive and financial aid is not easily obtainable. Housing is also very overpriced for the area.

The lack of night life that does not involve drinking alcohol especially for freshman who cannot have cars on campus to get to places such as the movies.

There was too much of a focus on drinking at frats on the weekend.

The one-credit per class system allows non-science majors to receive the same amount of credit for half the class hours.

The city of Lancaster is in the middle of Pennsylvania farm country. There's not a whole lot to do besides go to parties.

According to Forbes, it's the 24th most expensive college in the nation and you can tell! The advantages are that we have excellent professors and great facilities. The biggest disadvantage is that a majority of the students here come from wealthy families and can be a little stuck up and unaware that not everyone at F&M can afford Ugg boots or Prada bags. F&M is a great school, but you have to judge whether or not it's worth all the debt. If you're going for pre-law or pre-med it's probably worth it.

The worst thing about my school is that it is not in New York City (which is where I grew up), so even though some may call Lancaster a city, I feel like I'm in the middle of nowhere by comparison.

The worst thing about Franklin and Marshall College is the admitted want to cause students to struggle. It is extremely frustrating to work as hard as students do, to only be defeated by a profesoor in the end. It is one thing to try and "knock out the weak students" but it is another to completely discourage a large group of students. It is not appropriate to cause students to constantly second-guess themselves. College should teach students how to succeed rather than crush their dreams.
