Fresno Pacific University is a great private school located in the Central Valley. The classes sizes are small and truly feel safe and engaging. You don't feel as if you're struggling to be heard or seen by your professors. The campus is beautiful and small, yet it feels very spacious and modern. There are new buildings seemingly every year or so as well as a great support system of students and teachers.

Fresno Pacific is a quaint little university with the main campus just blocks away from the poorest parts of Fresno. Don't let that worry you though because the security is phenomenal! Despite being a private Christian University, the students here are very diverse. The on campus living is quiet (most of the time) but fun. FPU centers around community and involvement. The clubs and activities are numerous. When it comes to academics this school is top notch. The classroom sized vary. I have had classes with up to 25 students and classes as small as 7. The majority of the class sizes range between 12-22. The professors here are readily available and want to help their students succeed. This campus is small, but you are sure to see a new face almost everyday. Overall FPU is a good school, but if you do not have the scholarships or financial aide to come here with very few loans, you might want to consider going to a JC first.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

There is a lot of advice that I would give my high school self. I would tell myself that it is important to create good time organization. Along with that I would tell myself that in college the professors expect more of you, so that means you have to really pay attention. You cannot expect to pass your classes; you really have to study for the test. It is important for you to be willing to share your stuff with others. When you live your roommates you will share your hair products, and anything else they need to use.

  4. What kind of person should not attend this school?

The school is centered on Christian beliefs and values and it is very evident in it's course-load. There are Atheists and other religiously affiliated students but it can get uncomfortable to have your studies always be connected to the Christian religion. A person wanting to see liberalism in social issues or in politics is probably not fit for FPU. Also, people who are looking for frats/sororities and partying.

i brag about the environment. Fresno Pacific is very peaceful and quiet during the day. The presence of God is so stron every where you go. one really cool thing that sets my school apart from other schools is the fact that we have over 30 countries represented on campus. we have students and faculty from all over the world. we also have cheap trips we take during the year to disneyland and the beach. all trips for fun are under $60 and some other trips for class are usually free. the school gives many scholarship opportunities for tuition/living.

  12. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I knew more about how religious this college actually is compared to a public university. Being a private, christan university, they institute a lot of courses you have to take, that i personally don't feel benefit my major or what i want to do with my life. However, after freshman year, you get a lot more choices on the courses you need to take and what you want to do with your life.

  13. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing would be trying to get everything situated financially as well as getting the extra general education classes that I have not taken yet. It is really hard to pay for school when not making very much money.
