pretty accurate. Many of the students aren't necessarily rich, but most are upper middle class, were top 10 percent in their high school classes; study pretty hard, and are well rounded. Many come from southern, churched backgrounds, but many also are not overly religious. Some, in fact, are seeking to evaluate their beliefs and views.

For the most part - NO. While many may be from wealthy families many are from middle class or poor families. Furman is expensive but also gives a ton of Financial Aid and tries to recruit all races from all regions. You do need to study to do well at Furman but you can have time for social and athletic outlets if you plan your time wisely. There are those that love to party hard but most students are very responsible with alcohol if they chose to drink.
