I love the university, I looked at 10 colleges during high school and as soon as I drove up to George Mason it just felt right. I wanted a college that had a modern feel, not too large that I could not get around on foot , with a diverse student body and in an area that was urban in feel. George Mason hit it on all the marks.

There are few people I will remember for the rest of my life. Jordan Escobar is one of them. Some people hold on to trauma. Some people remember accomplishments. I remember kindness. I arrived late to a campus tour a few weeks ago. We didn’t have time to wait for the next tour. Jordan volunteered to forego her lunch break and give us a personal tour. I figured it’d be a rush job. A quick overview to accommodate my tardiness and her dietary needs. But what happened next literally convinced me and my family that George Mason University was not only the home of a good education but the home of good people. Jordan took us everywhere. Answered every question(before we asked it) turned every stone, dotted every t. And within that hour and a half, my daughter found a new home. I’m a firm believer you can get a good education anywhere these days. Even right in your own living room. I read everything. Google everything else. I’m not impressed by ivy leagues or alma maters. As we looked at schools my primary concern wasn’t what the syllabus entailed; but what the community infused. Through Jordan I experienced first hand George Mason University Community. Let’s face it. The world needs change. And I believe we all impact the future. Every day. Good or bad. And we learn these skills in every encounter. Every choice. Every sacrifice. I’d like to formally appreciate Jordan for truly embodying every good thing about an impactful learning institution: knowledge, community, sacrifice, compassion, beauty, freedom, and choice.

I hate it here. Housing will not help you at all. My roommate has physically hurt me and the university will not do anything about it. This happened to her previous roommate and the university still will not do anything. I am not returning after being treated so poorly by housing. Tara Rhodes does not care about her students. Do not come here unless you want to be screwed over by the university.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

It's great, but as an off-campus student I'm not really involved with Mason Nation because I'm not as exposed to activities like on-campus students. I feel like they should reach out more to off-campus students because most of the students here are commuters. Personally, I don't feel a part of the Mason Nation and just feel like everything is about my education and not getting experience and getting involved. The professors are great and very helpful plus they're available most of the time and try to help the students as best as they can. The people are somewhat nice there are some nice people but there are also some rude people which factors into why I don't feel part of the Mason community.

George Mason is a place where the future of the students is made. It is a place to have some fun during your free time yet get real into your education. I have learned a lot through the EIP (Early Identification Program) for five years straight at George Mason University. I have learned how to work with mentors, learn about college at Mason, financial strategies, educational programs, and dining at the Johnson Center.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

George Mason is a very good college and I am happy I decided to attend it. However, it really isn't like any other college. The overall atmosphere is quite different due to the fact that so many people commute to school here. The campus is very busy during the day and dead at night and on the weekends. It is also a little difficult to get around if you don't have a car. There is a shuttle that takes you places but they are really inconvenient and slow. There is not typical "college town" around us. We are just kind of smack dab in the middle of Fairfax city. However, I do love how close we are to DC and the metro stations are really convenient. Overall, I do like George Mason and love the friends I've made here it just has a couple inconveniences and downsides but what college doesn't.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Some professors I had are very understanding and good at what they are teaching, however, there are also professors who are just graduate students. In my opinion, graduate student professors should know what they are doing and teaching first, instead of going with the flow or acting arrogant. Also, events should be more organized when and while they are preparing for it and announcing it. They should be more specific on details and information.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Mason is the epitome of a commuter school, regardless of the garbage the administration might try to tell you about how its not a commuter school. Most of the resident students I’ve come into contact with are relatively unfriendly and lack any sort of manners or respect, not to mention they strike me as a intellectually challenged group of human beings to say the least. Decent Parties do not exist on campus, you would literally have to go to DC to have a good time. The majority of Fraternities and sororities are a joke. The only thing mason does somewhat well on the housing side of things is the dining system. Bottom line: If you looking for the all around positive college experience, Go to Tech or JMU. If you’re strictly in college to be a loser and have zero real fun, Mason is a great choice.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

GMU is a great school, but you have to be proactive if you want to be involved and make friends since many people commute to the campus. There are many clubs and activities to take part in and you can always ride the metro to visit DC. There are some people that seem to be apathetic but most students are there too learn and take their work seriously.

i hate this school so much. Everything about it sucks. Parking, food, facilities, social scene, housing, professors. i could go on in detail about what a pitiful excuse of a university this place is. Ive had multiple experiences were professors were EXTREMELY unfair about my grades. I do not recommend for seniors looking at colleges
