The stereotype for GMU is that it is the Cinderella story school of the east coast. After placing in the Final Four, GMU got more publicity and more applications from students. Once a student comes here, they come up with the stereotypes that it is a commuter school, it has alot of people from other coutries, and that people come here if they didnt get into better schools.

I am not sure or any particular stereotypes of GMU students. However, I did hear a young man say my junior of high school that George Mason was the only high school of Virginia; basically implying that everyone went there and it was not somewhere he wanted to go to school.

Snobby, clique-orientated rich kids from Fairfax, Virginia. Many feel that a good deal of the students at George Mason University come to the school because they're not really sure what else to do - High School 2.0, you could say. GMU is also considered a mild 'upgrade' from the Community Colleges in the area, thus painting a good deal of the students in a rather half-bright light.

Stereotypes about George Mason....well, from the few that I've heard is that George Mason is a commuter school. Coming to school here from New York I was worried about that. When I got here, settled into my dorm in Presidents Park, it did not feel like a commuter school anymore. I made numerous friends right away.
