I wish I had known about their Catholic organization ahead of time so that I could have been more involved with them right as soon as I got on campus.
I wish I had known that the school's one courses were equivalent to two courses from NVCC, then I would not have thought about the money and come straight to George Mason to study. Because of which I am studying an extra semesterin George Mason making up courses.
I wish I had known: that the communication major is a joke, but that the student media experiences would make up for that loss (i.e. I should have picked a better major); that despite the University's protests, it really is a commuter school and is like a funeral on the weekends; that cars really are necessary on campus if you want to go out at night because the bus system is only nicely functional in the daytime; and that everybody is at Mason simply as a means to an end.
That I would gain 30lbs. my first semester if I didn't pace the way I ate.
Believe it or not nothing. I had a very good experience during the research process of selecting George Mason University. The orientation was amazing and friendly and focused. I met my dorm mate on the first day. We are now best friends. The only thing that I would have liked to have known was how to plan for class scheduling. Planning in out ahead so that you don't have to revise your schedule based on class size. That really is it. The entire experience has been very positive.
I wish I had known just how hard I had to work to keep up with my classmates. Everyone who goes to George Mason has a spark of their own; it amazes me that each student is able to bring so much knowledge with them. It makes coming to class a fun learning experience because I know that I am going to have to challenge myself in new ways everyday.
you have to be skinny and blonde to be in a sorority
Before coming to my school, I wish I had known that it is slightly hard to get a job on and off campus. Had I known this, I would have worked more to save money for tuition, housing and groceries. I didn't realize how much money is actually spent on groceries alone.
Something that I wish I would have known about George Mason University is the relationship between the staff and students. Some students have difficult because of professor teaching methods such as no hand in assignment, online coursework, and indirected teaching and testing. Meaning that sometimes test don't always reflected was is being taught in class.
difficulty of academic load
I wish I had known how many scholarships were available.
There isn't anything I wish I would've known because the school turned out to be just as I thought it would be.
This school is big with many of the students living off campus. If you want to get to know people and the campus, you have to get out and be involved or you'll miss out.
I wish i had known how well our New Century college worked and how easily you can get a job from that department in comparison to the other colleges are my univeristy. I would have done New Century so that i could create my own major that would apply more to what i want to do after i graduate.
Nothing, the swift surprise of college's great differences helped make me stronger.
I wish I had known about quality of life at this campus. For as much money as I pay each semester, I don't feel like my college experience is being fulfilled as expected. There isn't much to do on campus, everything off campus is too expensive, and there are way too many distractions, bad ones.
I wish that I had known that there was not much to do on weekends.
I wish I had known that only someof my credits from the previous college I attended would transfer but that wasmy responsibility and i failed to research the issue and answer my own question.
While there are around 30,000 students at Mason, no one is really around during the weekends. So the weekends have a dendency to become dead. Also the food places all close except the obscure ones during the weekends, so that can be inconvenient at times.
Before coming to this school, I wish I had a better idea of which classes I needed to take for my major and what classes I should take. There really wasn't much help available to me as a freshmen coming into the university. I quickly learned that you must discover many things on your own or seek the help of your peers a lot more than staff and faculty.
MORE ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES AND THE SORITIES ON CAMPUS. ALSO MORE ABOUT THE WORK LOAD EXPECTED FOR MY PARTICULAR MAJOR
I wish I would have known the amount of work that really goes into doing well and exceeding academically.
the general cost of living in the area
I am from the area, therefore I knew much of the school before I attended; however, George Mason is a located in a great location. Mason is in short distance of Arlington, and Washington D.C. A George Mason student has many opportunities for great jobs and internships. Everything that a person needs is in near reaches of the location and it is a great metropolitan area to meet businessmen and experience other opportunties.
