I love Southern. At first the "hail southern" propaganda scared me, it felt a bit like a cult, but since being there - I get it. I enjoy being at school and I'm currently home for the summer, but I'm already so excited to go back in August. There is room for improvement, but that's with any school someone attends. Overall, hail southern and GATA!!!!

I loved my time at Georgia Southern. I attended as an older, transfer student, and I felt supported by staff and peers alike from application through graduation. It was a great school that provided many internship, scholarship, and job opportunities to students, regardless of major. Don't let the size of the 'Boro fool you; you are a stones throw from the Atlantic Ocean at Southern, so you get that small town feel on campus within an hour drive of a big city and tourist destination. Join the Eagle Nation- you will love it and Hail Southern!

Georgia Southern University is a wonderful option. The Statesboro, GA campus is sprawling and beautiful, and the facilities are excellent. At GSU you will enjoy a small town feel, and get to know your classmates and you Professors on a personal level. Students do well and learn well as long as they put in the effort. And, while its not my scene, GSU has some great party spots, and will always bring major loyal energy to a sports game. Note that they also have a large campus in Savannah, GA, which is a tourist destination for a reason. If you enjoy a small city with deep history and lots of cute coffee shops, GSU has that with their Savannah location.

Mariama - 12/17/2022

Georgia Southern is pretty simple college. The application is simple and the moving in process is simple. Statesboro as a city is very boring so there is not much to do at outside of school events which luckily there are plenty of. The housing is better in some dorms and less than perfect in others. Overall it is a pretty good school if you are focused on academics and not experience.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about Georgia Southern University is the lack of minorities. In hig school you take a lot of things for granted. One of those things is the diversity within the student body. At Georgia Southern there are many white and black students, but when it comes to other races we lack. You start to miss the conversations in spanish you would hear walking the halls, and the sounds of asian instruments coming from the chinese club. If Georgia Southern accpeted more minorities, then it would seem like more of a melting pot .

  16. What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Students at Georgia Southern University are labeled with all different kinds of stereotypes. Many years ago, GSU was ranked the number one STD university in the nation. In addition, given we are located in south Georgia, most people assume the school is made up of mostly rednecks. That one, i'll admit, is pretty accurate. There are all different kinds of students who attend classes here, but there are a lot of rednecks. We have lots of athletes, lots at fraternity guys and sorority girls, but once you look past the greek life, sports clubs, and social groups, there are a bunch of them. The first assumption I mentioned however, no longer is true. The STD rate here had dropped dramatically and the SAT requirements to get into GSU have risen just the same. We need to get more credit for that!
