Georgia State University-Perimeter College Top Questions

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

chris

I would tell my younger self to stop being so afraid. Being afraid or failures and rejections are natural, but you can’t expect to be successful by avoiding your problems. I learned this much later on in life. I would tell him to be more socially active, challenge himself both physically and mentally, be more forthcoming about your feelings, and travel as much as you can. Time in college is a precious commodity. I would urge him to use it wisely. Video games are fun and addicting but it’s not worth most of your free time. College is one of the last places you will be where you will be surrounded by your peers. Time would be better spent on making friends and dating rather than spending absurd amount of time in a video game where there is little to no communication with other people. Another advice I would give to my younger self is to not put so much pressure on yourself. I was stressed out and burnt out by my junior year. Time is still on your side. Take a deep breath and relax. Everything is going to be fine.

When I was in high school I disliked the exprience of school so much that when I graduated I had no intentions to even attend college. However, if i could talk to myself today my advice would simply be to embrace the entire experiance. To plan for the future, but remember to live in the present too.

Andie

If I could go back to my senior year I would have taken more college classes. I did dual enrolment and only took one college class per semester. I wish I would have done more so I could be even more ahead than I am now.

Lashunda

It was amazing graduating at the top of my class and even receiving a full ride to college. However, all of that sounds good and so many people think that thats all a person needs to make it in college, they could not be more wrong. It is a blessing to have a full ride to a school but when you do not do your research, a person can watch that blessing and education be wasted. I would tell myself to do my research and take school seriously and honestly get it all over with when the opportunity presents itself the first time. Life can be very hard. And education can give you more options. I would tell myself to work arduously on attaining those scholarships and do all that you can to maintain them. It is fine to get a part time job but it is not fine to neglect your education over money. Because if you work harder on scholarships, you will not need a part time job. And there is money and help out here. All you have to do is you research. Education will get a person further and give them more options than knowing someone.

Joseph

I would advise myself to go to college immediately after high school and not wait so long to make the decision.

Lakisha

I would suggest many things to myself, such as keep my grades up in order to become eligible for scholarships and various academic oppetunities. When I was in school I was very shy and withdrawn. I would have suggested I network and make more friends because life is easier in college when you are well connected and in the "know," pertaining to oppertunities on campus. This ultimately would have helped me get out of my shell and open up to more people. I would have also adviced myself to communicate with the counselors on a regular basis in order to become aware of any oppertunities to better myself academically. Also, I would have suggested work study programs and even joining a club or signing up for a sport. These things would have given me balance in school and allowed me an oppertunity to meet people and hone my social skills. As well as overcome being shy. I made a lot of mistakes in high school because I was a loner. Now I embrace all of my resources and I quickly make new friends in every class. Now I am more fufilled as an individual and better prepared as a student.

If I could go back in time the first thing I would tell myself is to not slack when it comes to GPA or applying to college deadlines. In high school I procrasnated a lot and that really cost me a lot in the end. Dear past me work hard and play later, apply for as many scholarships and grants as you can because, tuition and college fees are not cheap. Nothing in life is free, if you want something you have to go out and get it yourself. I know it may be hard to focus when it seems like everyone else around you is goofying off or going to the latest party every weekend but in the end it will all be worth it. Go out and get your stuff together, your education is the most important thing in your life along side your health. Without an education you will get no where in life, you want people to look up to you not down on you. So, don't be a follower, show your fellow students and friends what a leader really looks like.

Don't give up on yourself. Don't let other succeed before you. You go thru many losses but they are always with you. I know times get hard and you got struggles but what doesn't kill makes you stronger. Let the drama go because your way better then that. Focus on school, doing your homework, going to class and asking for help when you need it. Get tutors or stay in for extra help. Your senior year is the most important, it reflects on your entire life including college. You want happiness, good job with great pay, happiness and i know you won't settle for less. Your sports are important and a passion to you and yes can cause you to become par of the "popular group" but in order to play on futher your grades have to be top notch. Yes you think your senior year is time for fun, friends , parties but it's not. You could save that for after school is done. Focus on your dreams and make them come true. Listen to me, I know and if i could change my past, I would. I believe 100{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} in you.

My college experience has been a good one so far. At the community college where I currently am enrolled, the atmosphere is very friendly and close to home. Just being at college has given me experience to apply toward the rest of my life. First, I have learned how to be a smart leader. I have been consistently the best student in my classes and have had to learn how to think through problems as a leader. Second, I have been given the experience of helping others. In the case of college, this help is usually with homework or a class project. Still, the experience of helping others has, in a way, helped me in my life. Third, I have been challenged enough to work hard at my studies. The classes are challenging and often require some work. This experience has helped me prepare for real life situations, in which hard work is required to accomplish a goal. College has been a good experience so far. The experience I have earned here will help me in later life to be the best that I can be and to help my society as a productive member.

Chantel

I have learned alot during my years in college. Not only academically but also socially. In my freshman year I had a fallout between very good friends which put me into a depression. My grades, of course, initially fell but eventually I was able to teach myself that friends aren't why I'm in college. And ever since I made that realization I have been getting all A's and now have a 4.0gpa at my new school. College is a necesity for today's society and no longer take the fact that I am here for granted. Like any other student, I sometimes feel like college isn't for me. But seeing my parents and the fact that they both have their Master's degrees and practically get any job they apply to keeps me going. Hopefully one day I will be in their shoes, but I can't even think about getting close to their status without succesfully getting through college.

Haley

The first thing I would do if I could go back and talk to my senior self would be to slap myself in the face and say "Stop screwing up. You don't have much time left!" That's the best advice I think I could ever receive. But after doing that I would explain to myself that they weren't kidding when they told us to buckle down and do our school work. Because College is a completely different environment. Your "friends" won't let you copy their homework that's due in 30 minutes. You won't get an extra day to finish a project you neglected just because you asked the teacher politely. And your professors don't care that you're sick and that's why you missed yesterday's class. It's a whole new world. And you'll drown if you're not properly prepared. So throw on your life vest, grab your ores, and grow up. Because no one is going to do it for you.

As a high school senior I would tell myself to read more. I would familiarize myself with college level readings and practice my critical thinking skills. As a college sophomore, it is sometimes difficult to concentrate on my readings, but reading is the foundation of every class. I would also tell myself to make a schedule and practice sticking to my deadlines. In college it is easy to put things off until the last minute. I have actually put papers off until the last hour and the pressure to complete the assignment is immense. Being organized and focused would help me to be a better student. I would also tell myself to have fun. Sometimes in college you become consumed with being the best and loose sight of who you are. Unlike in high school, grades in college are not as important as the experience. Being obsessed over grades doesn?t make you happy, growing and experiencing new things during college is the most important thing, and I wish as I transitioned my mindset about academic success would have changed as well.

Lashonda

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high shool senior I would tell myself to know what I wanted to do before I started or at least have a strong idea of what I wanted to do. College is expensive, so knowing what you want to do wll eliminate just taking classes for the fun of it and wasting money. It will also help you in finding the right school that is affordable and right for you. It is okay to get the basic classes out the way but you gotta stay focused because you can get caught up in taking classes that you don't need and thats a waste of time, efforts and energy. My advice would be to think smarter, not harder. With understanding, there is no misunderstanding, if you know what you want you will be more determined and you will succeed.

ALANDRO

There's an old song my mother use to play from my grandmothers era, and that song is entitled "If I Can Turn Back The Hands of Time," and as I reflect on that song, it allows me to see myself advising Alandro (me) to study more. Alandro, the best thing for you to do right now is to focus on the next level in life that you are venturing into because where you are right now is the precursor to where you're going. Alandro, take the time to discuss where you are in class with your teachers and your counselor, afterwards, make a decision not to continue to miss assignments on purpose thinking I could make up the assignments. Take every advantage of this education that you are getting for free, so that you can receive scholarships and grants instead of student loans. Finally Alandro, take notes and study them for conceptual understanding, instead of knowing the material just to past the test. Allow yourself the opportunity to see that this is for your good in preperation for the third level of education that very few get. These are things that I would whisper to myself.

Alexandria

To take high school more seriously and not doing my best. I would have to myself to stay focused and not all the other distrctions bother me and that I would have plenty of time to do what i wanted to do. I would also Told myself to strive to make higher grades and not just get by on the minimal grade possible.

Brandi

Its senior year, colleges are narrowing down and tuition is becoming to build up like an ant mile; I sit on the door step like an statue in a museum awating the results college approvals. Althoguh no approval from the other three schools but one, I take with pride and continue my education journey. If I had the opportunity to go back in time to guide myself through my senior year of high school I would. The advice I would give myself would be to focus on my grades, take scholarships and grants more seriously and have a back up college. As a college student now, grades are very important to keep up with considering that you have to pay for each class. In oder to succeed and pass the class, your grades has to be on top of the list. Scholarships and grants has the same amount of equal importance as grades do. By recieving rewards for college it makes it more affordable on the you and your parents. By looking at multiple colleges try looking at two year institute as a fall back plan. Two year institute are very affordable.

lauren

I would first tell myself to get organized and prepared. Organization is key to sucess in college. Its important to organize your time as well as your notes. I would tell myself that college takes dedication, but the pay off will be well worth it. I would advise to prepare myself in every way possible ( reading a chapter ahead before the next time I meet my teacher in class again, taking great notes). College is no joke, its the real deal so its time to grow up and take control of your future because no one is going to do it for you anymore! In addition, I would set a goal to stay positive, even when work, school, and social lives may all get tangled together and become stressful. Make friends, enjoy the college experience, and embrace the bright future you face are all things I believe would greatly encourage a highschool senior like I was!

Hertlice

If I could go back in time and talk with myself as a high school senior, I'd have a lot to say. First thing I'd say is don?t give up. No matter how tedious the work seems, how different the culture is around you, how many disappointments hit you left and right, don?t give up. Stick to your goals. You can succeed at what may seem like the impossible. Set your standards high and don?t settle for anything less. Write out your top five long term goals and give them a deadline. Copy those goals, frame them and post them everywhere. Recite repeatedly what you believe. When you feel like you can?t do anything else, don?t stop and keep going. You can have what you want in any circumstance. Be patient and don?t let go of those goals and dreams. Keep good company. Anyone who does not support you, your standards or your goals, make them disappear. Trust me when I say, it is in your best interest. Look out for you because no one else will do it like you can. Give what you want to get back.

Tiffany

I would tell myself to be more prepared. In high school I was an honor student , in JROTC, and I was eager to get to college. I would prepare myself for the SAT more than I was, I feel like I wasn't as focused as I should have been on college. I didn't apply to colleges until April and May of my senior year, I would have pushed myself more to apply for scholarship money. I would tell myself to work harder to get into college. I believe I was so focused on being the first of my generation in my family to graduate from high school, that I wasn't as focused on college. I didn't start college for atleast a year because of my procrastination; I no longer procrastinate. I have really did a 360 when it comes to being on top of my game; maybe I needed to grow up to realize this. As a high school senior I can admit that my focus was clouded by distractions around me; and if I had a second chance I would take it. Talking to me in the past would more than likely change my life.

Taylor

Please, take advantage of the time you have and ask for help. Fill out every scholarship application available to you, because school is expensive. Ask your teachers how to study and learn how to manage your time , because in college you will recive alot of work and the deadlines are no joke. This is your life and it's time to grow up get serious about school you have to motivate yourself, remember your goal is right in front of you and just an arm reach away.

Stephanie

I was a very bad kid in high school. I would constantly be late for classes, I would not do my homework, and would never be prepared for class. In collge, I could no longer get away with the slacking that I was so used to doing. I came to realize that college professors don not give you a slap on the wrists like high school teacher; if you are not prepared, you do not come to class. There are no second chances. If I could go back in time, I would advise myself to stop slacking because you can no longer get away with it. In order to get respect from your teachers and your peers is to be responsible.

Trasitioning to college life can be rather difficult unless proper planning is involved early! Teachers, parents, and friends offer advice and can be an overwhelming chore getting prepared for college. Preparation for college starts with practicing organizational skills in high school. Daily college activities are very time consuming. Practicing organizational skills now will help you manage throughout your college career. Creating a daily routine and having the proper items such as books, utensils, and planners all contribute to being well organized. Set aside 1 specific day for pure relaxation and fun. School at times can become overwhelming. Having a day planned for fun and relaxtion can reduce the stress associated with school and can help you focus on your subjects more! Lastly, utilize your teachers office hours for help in your subjects. Becoming familiar with your teachers shows true initiative for learning and can become a determing factor of effort applied towards your education. The more interaction, the more your teacher will know of you. This can be a great asset for your educational reputation and can be helpful if there is a need for a letter of recommendation in the future. These points will ensure great success in college.

Ricky

My apparition would tell my senior self that I cannot wing my way into college as I did throughout high school. College is serious business and if I am serious about what I want to accomplish with my life, then I am going to have to start thinking like an independent adult and making sound decisions because no one else can do those things for me. Most importantly, I would remind myself that incessant fantasizing about the future will most definitely not materialize such dreams. I would also tell myself to really be sure about what I want to achieve with a college education, because if the motive is unclear, then the drive will soon dissipate and the dreams will remain just that ? dreams. After drilling that mindset into my skull, I would then stress the importance of studying and knowing how to do it properly, applying to schools and for scholarships and grants as early as possible, and taking AP classes and CLEP tests so that I can skip the general classes and go straight into my major, because by then, I will be hungry for that dream. But ultimately, being prepared will satiate that desire.

Raegan

Dear Raegan, College is fun. I thought I would just get that out of the way, since I know you're wondering. However, college is hard work. Take your first semester seriously, because you know you are not good at math! Studying and perserverance will get you through, and you'll be alright. Disclaimer: your second semester at GPC need not be interrupted by a boy named Christopher Guy. He's bad news. Keep your focus on schoolwork; most of your professors are quite the catch. Also, take the opportunity to go outside and study because they have a beautiful campus! The people who say that community college is the drop off point for failures are wrong. I've experienced a few good people in my semesters, and a couple of bad eggs. But hey! It's the real world, no one is exactly alike. I wouldn't suggest starting anywhere else. I can imagine how scared you would be going, moving, somewhere you didn't know for four years. Good job choosing Perimeter. Have fun; God will bless you! P.S. You'll pick up guitar! You're actually good at it. :) Sincerely, Future You

Myesha

When I was in high school my school offered something called running start. This was a program that you could enroll in either you junior or senior year. It allowed you to take classes at one of the local community colleges, which would not only count as one of your high school credits but it also gave you college credits. Another program my school offered was upward bound. This program prepared you for college by taking you to colleges, helping you apply, and also require that you take some college courses ( which only counted as a high school credit). If I could go back to high school as a senior I would take advantage of all of these oppurtunities. While I was in high school I didnt realize how helpful these programs were for post college students. Another thing I would do is take advantage of any and every scholarship that came my way. If I would have done each of these simple things my college life would be alot easier. Running start would have also allowed me to finish school that much faster. I would tell any future student to take advantage of oppurtunites like these.

Tsehay

Hey, Tsehay, why are you so stressed! You don't have to be, you know. College life is not as bad as you think it's going to be. Do you remeber how your high school teachers described how college professors would be? They said that your college professors would not care if you fail their class, and a lot of other things that scared you to death about college. Guess what? That is not ture! College professors want you to pass! They care a lot. So much in fact that they make so you DO pass. College professors are always curving grades and dropping low test scores. All you have to do is attend class everyday and listen to what your professors tell you. It's easy, I promise.

Courtney

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would remind myself of making good choices and good habits now. The habits you create in high school will follow you all the way through college, so don't start the procrastination early. I would tell myself to practice being more organized. It would have been nice to begin college with a firm grasp on organization rather than learning how to be organized during the school year. I would tell myself to practice putting yourself in different situations and being with different people because then it won't be such a shock when you enter college. Because I didn't expose myself to new ideas in highschool, it was very hard to adapt to the different people I met and what they believed and their outlook on life. I would tell myself all these things to help me be better prepared for college. I wish I knew back then, what I know now.

Josiah

I would give myself the advice to stay focus this last year of high school. I would also tell myself to go straight into college after high school because if you wait you will forget a lot of information you will need for college. I would also take the summer after high school to get things in order so that I will make a great transition into college.

Justin

If I could go back and talk to myself as a senor in high school, I would say to myself change your study habits. That is the most important thing. Secondly, I would say choose a school that fits you and not where your friends are going. That can be a distraction to you, also. Always stay focus in class and take plenty of notes. Remember that education is more importan than friends. If your friends can't accept your desicions on school, they are going keep holding you back and be a road block in your life. As far as college life, its a whole new life from high school. You are on your on, noone to wake you up, noone to tell you to go to class, noone to tell you to study. You have to take care of yourself in college. Just remember study hard, play less and that friends come and go but an education is needed.

Gary

I would tell my self to prepare and study. College is not like high school in the fact that everything is so lax. I would tell myself to make sure that i dont procrastinate and that i have to take this year very seriously. I would make sure i realize that this is my foundation year and its not a joke. The decissions i make during this year will set the stage for years to come.

Gabrielle

The advice that I would give myself then being a high school senior would be to stick by logic and never emotions. I know how difficult college life can be. At times you want to give up and wish the problems that you face could go away. Looking back I wish I could take some decisions back and fight through whatever problems I was going through. Thankfully with the support and love of my family I am not bitter about things. Life has a way of showing us what is more important than just us as individuals. Also not to let distractions intervene in your mission in trying to better yourself. That's the test that is always defeating young people. Always stick to what you know is best for you and never about someone else. Never underestimate yourself and have confidence. You are a beautiful and wonderful person that has come a long way to greatness. Continue to pray and know that regardless if this world or people turn their backs you always know someone greater has it.

Brandon

If i could go back in time and give myself advise on college life, i would tell myself to start early when looking for scholarships and that if i really want the dream i have always wanted and to grow up and make something of myself, then to go out there and earn it. Also, i would tell myself that education is the key to a great, hard-earned life that im willing to give anything to have.

Tsahai

If I could go back in time I would tell myself in the beginning of my senior year, to start putting an effort into what I am really passionate about. Don't do what your family wants you to do, do what your heart desires you to do. Because if you don't you will end up not completing it because you are not happy. Also get invovled in everything that college has to offer now and when you get there because it will be more fun and those groups and people will be able to help you in the end. You are too smart to let people intimidate you, so know that your whole life there is going to be someone hating on you, let them be your motivation to do great things. Your degree is going to open doors for you that you can't imagine, and although you have had bad times dealing with church, keep God first, He will help you in those tough and lonely times.

Caryn

If I could go back in time and pep talk myself into my freshman year in college, I would say over and over how important it is to work diligently, stay focused, and ask questions if need be to get the best baseline GPA as possible for your first semester. . Then you can relax a bit, attend parties and sporting events, or develop relationships with others. College is to graduate as degree holder is to a good job! When we have a clear understanding of the time and commitment that it takes to do well in college, it is not hard or difficult, but it is clearly about focusing on the goal. All too often students get to college, with all of its trappings of new found "freedom," and they forget WHY they are in college! It would be wonderful for every college and university to guarantee a educational environment where by students would not have any distractions to lure them away from their books, but each student is responsible for the decisions they make, and those decisions they will directly effect their future direction.

jennie

If I were to go back in time I would tell myself to go to college right after I graduate and before I get married and have kids because having a baby and going to school is really harder than it seems.

Chanel

Knowing what I know now about college and life I would have given myself better advice of how i handled many situations. I would have definitley encouraged myself to study through knowing insted of through memorization. II believe that I would have been more focused in high school because i didnt realize how important college was until after ny freshmen year of college. I would have also not let family issues play a big part of my life because it was something i could not comtrol and for that I didnt do everything I could to my abilities. One thing I really wish I would have did was give back to the community more and had time to volunteer more becuase that also makes a difference in one slife. If I owuld have known the quote your attitude determines your altitude im sure I would be in better standings. Now that I do know what I know I am prepared and ready to do whatever it takes so that I am successful in life and accomplish all goals. Nothing can stop me now, Im determined and dedicated to do what I need to , to get where I need to be.

rebekah

If could go back in time and talk to myself as a senior in high school knowing what I know now about college and the transition, I would tell myself that the party will always be there and to not lose focus of my goals. It is very easy to get caught up in this new found freedom that studying and attending class will end up taking a back seat to socializing and partying. In the grand scheme of things, the actual amount of time it takes out of your life to study and attend class is so minute and beneficia.l There is no reason they should be neglected, especially when you have come so far, worked hard, and doing this college thing on your own. This is a defining point in your life, take advantage of it and your potential. There is a lesson to be learned from every failure. Learning those lessons leads to success. Don?t forget what is truly important to you!

Raven

Going back in time I would tell myself to think about the choices I made from my freshman year up to my senior year. Most of my choices were good, great actually. I would tell myself to focus on test taking skills. In college most grades are based on test. If you do well on the test, you will do well in the class. Also, don't rush to perfection. Yes, do well. That is a good way to get scholarship money, but it isn't the only way. I would tell myself to look for more scholarships. Free money is free money, and as a stuggling college student you need as much as possible. Another thing is to do as much as possible the campus. It is almost like high school a bit. If you want to stand out around campus, do more. Everyone is not there at the same time, but the more often you're there, the more of a chance you have of being noticed.

Warren

The first piece of advice I would give myself if I was able to talk to myself as a highschool senior would be to join as many clubs and engage in mutiple extracurricular activities as possible. I would tell myself to join clubs, etc. because a large part of college is getting out and using your people skills to meet new people and to make new friends. For example, interacting and exchanging ideas with club members can help when meeting new people at college. Taking my piece of advice would help for a smoother transition into college for meeting new people. The second piece of advice I would give, would be open minded. There may be certain people that you would not have made friends with in highschool, but may find out you can get along very well with them. Last and foremost, I would tell myself to stop procrastinating because in college inorder to excel you need to study everyday and do your work on time. With those three pieces of advice, I feel as though I would be more prepared coming out of highschool into a college environment.

Tamika

If I could go back and talk to myself as a senior in high school, I would simply tell myself to visit as many colleges as possible before many my final discision. I could definitely choose to live on campus for at least the first year to get the full effect of dorm life verse living off campus. I also would have taken the S.A.T test several times to increase my scores. I would have studied harder my senior year instead out working, so that my GPA would have been higher also.

Xeryus

College is one giant step into a brand new experience and it is a must that you as a high school senior be prepared to go wherever you go. This is your last year in high school so stay focused and keep your grades up. College life can be easy or hard it varies all on the individual but you have to stay focused and study right. To get into school you have to get on the ball right away with applications and hopefully some kind of SAT or ACT score to have an acceptance. By doing things this way you will have an early hear back from the schools you applied to therefore you wont be on the edge of your seat frantically waiting to hear from that dream school. The college experience and one that you will remember for a lifetime. The places you will go the people you will meet will be an extravagant experience but it also comes with the price of staying focused and keeping your on the prize of those goals you want to accomplish. So all in all enjoy your time in highschool but college is a fullfiling adventure waiting for you.

RICK

In 1979 (that's when I graduated from high school) I didn't belive that i could suceed in college, even my teachers at that time never incuraged me to go to college. All young men at my school was told we should go into the military, so thats what I did. I was told that my family could never afford to send me to collage, so the Army was my only way out of the ghetto. Now I know better, I would tell that young man that their is another way out, Higher Education. I would let him know that it doesn't matter where you come from, with education you can suceed in life and live your dreams. I also would tell him not to let anyone take his dreams away. College is one of the most important steps you can take in life, and it can help you change your future and only for the better.

Michelle

If I given the oppurtunity to talk to myself as a high school senior, I'd tell myself to put in my all. During my first three high school years I did okay but I could have done better. It wasn' until my senior year that i began to took my education seriously and put my all into the semester. In the end i receives a 4.0 but it wasn't enough to make up for my other three years and I did not recieve the hope scholarship. If I could go back in time, I would've told my self to turn in the assignments i didn't think it was a big deal to miss, I would have told myself to put more effort into studying so that the B's I made on my assignment would have ben A's and my grades would have been better than average. The most important thing to remember is to stay focused and stay on top. I'm currently holding a 4.0 gpa now that i am more serious minded, and looking back i wonder how it would've been different had i done the same in highschool.

At times I wish I could go back in time and fix some of the mistakes I made in high school. I've learned so much since then, not only about school but also about life. Too often as high school students graduate and began the transition into the college life, they have their priorites completely backwards. For most, this will be the first real time they will be away from their parents and one their own. If I could go back and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would have made sure that I had the necessary time management skills. I would have balanced recreational activities and academics! Most importantly I would have told myself that the universe is vast and wide! If you put enough effort into the most important things in life (I'm not talking about hair and clothes), doors will open and you can write your own ticket in this life!

I would say to myself life is short make the best of it. This is not a rehersal its the real thing , the decisions you make now will impact your life for years to come. I would illustrate that from the age of 1 to 18 is this long{with my hands open about 16 inches) and 19 to the what ever the Lord bless you with is(hands open about 3 ft}. The core subjects you take in high school for are the same thing you will learn in college maybe a bit more indepth at times. When attending college right after High school the info is easier to remember because ofthe heads up that you just reicieved from high school. once graduating college at 22 you play time you can not only act like an adult like you have always wanted you'll be able to achieve adult things (cars, homes, jewelry, meaningful relationships). Education is the one thing no one can take from you they can fire you, they can do anything but with a college degree in something that is marketable you are always marketable and someone wil hire you .

If I could go back to my High School years I would tell my self to take school a little more serious. As a senior you are ready to just graduate, trying your best just to get 70{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} out of the class, not worrying about your GPA, which affects you in the long run. I would tell myself to get into more clubs, a different variety of clubs. I would also tell myself not to wait till the day before to actually do a project or a paper. The main thing I would tell myself is start applying for grants early, and know the school you would like to apply for.

I would specify that education is power, and that you need to take your education serious and all the fun can happen after you have obtain a degree and is a moral citizen in the work force.. you would be honest and very proud of your accomplishment..

I would tell myself to pay more attention in the classes that I took for granted. Alot of high school seniors start to get a boost of confidence their senior because they know that graduation will be coming up soon and all they can think about is getting out of high school and starting the college life. I would tell myself to pace myself and take my time with all of my school work because the better your high school transcript looks the better your chances of getting into a really good college. I would also tell myself to make a schedule and note study times because sometimes it was hard being in high school working a job, going to school, trying to find study time and also trying to find time to relax and unwind as well. It is vey imperative to focus and manage your schedule and time wisely in high school because it will not be a good time to be reminiscing in summer school while the rest of your class will be walking across the stage getting high school diplomas.

I would tell myself to never take my family and the people closest to me for granted. Those people that you meet in high school and you know that you will not see them after graduation, I should not have cared so much about what others thought of me. Those people that are closest to you are the people who will stand by you no matter what and help you do what is best for you and your future. I would tell myself who I still hang out with so that I know who to trust and who will push me in the right direction for my education and tell myself what track to stay on and who or what to stear clear from. Most of all I would tell myself that my parents were right all four years of high school. To make sure to listen to them and not disregard their advice. It will be important later.

I would tell myself quite a few things if I could go back in time. I would tell myself that college is only as hard as you make. If you study and work hard, then good things will come. Don't waste time when it comes to getting assignments completed. Waiting until the last minute is not a good habit. I would inform myself about financial aid. There are many scholarships out there. I would have told myself to apply for as many scholarships as possible. By doing that I wouyld have a better chance at getting lots of scholarship money. Those are the basics of college.
