What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Courtney

Before I came to this school, I wish I had known about all of the programs and "extras" offered here. There are so many little perks such as free Microsoft Office from the IT department and many clubs that you can join such as GU Outdoors. I was not prepared for all that Gonzaga had to offer.

Alicen

I wish I had known to apply for scholarships on the Gonzaga website at the same time I was applying for the school.

Breda

I wish I would've known that registering for the classes I need would be a lot tougher than imagined.

Naomi

I wish I had known to get more involved my freshman and sophomore year. I am very involved now in my senior year but I would have been happier in my first years with more involvement. My freshman year I focused on only spending time with the people in my dorm while I should have been trying to meet and get to know as many people as possible. Gonzaga has such a variety of wonderful people it is a shame I only got to know a handful of them.

There are going to be a lot of girls here who are superficial and judge you based on your clothes. There are also a lot of girls here who are genuine and/or from the same economic background as you. Don't get freaked out by the girls who are fake, because you are more confident than they are.

I wish that I would've known to bring a coffee pot! I don't drink coffee at all, but there are soooooo many things that you can make just with heated water! It's smart to have one around! Also, I wish that I would've known not to sweat trying to meet everyone the first few days. I am constantly meeting new people, and I don't even remember a lot of kids' names from the beginning of the school year! So it's not that big of a deal if you don't meet everyone!

Karlie

I wish I had known to break out of my comfort zone sooner. When I first moved in, I worried about what people would think of me, if I would make friends, and how well I would fit in within a private school environment. I was told Gonzaga is a school of acceptance and growth, but I never believed it. Now I know that those nervous feelings really held me back my first semester here. My school is full of people exactly like me and I should use the opprotunities I am given and break away from my comfort zone.

Erin

I wish that I knew how to study more effectively. First semester was a wake up call to the study skills I learned in high school. I had to reteach myself how to study.

Stephen

How heavy my class load was going to be. It was a dramatic change from high school, having 6 or 7 classes per semester.

I wish I would have known more about the city of Spokane and all of the amenities it has to offer. It took me almost three years to realize it is more than just a town, but there are many unique restaurants, hiking trails, and other things it offers.

Cole
