What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Gabrielle

Of course all schools have there pros and cons, but attending Hampton University I had a great time and it is hard for me to find something negative that stands out and is worth complaining about. If I had to choose the worst thing about my school it would be the food the students are served in the cafeteria. The food seems as though it is packaged and then microwaved straight from the freezer. The selection is very poor everyday and it is rare that we have food that makes you want to get up and get seconds.

Tia

The administration refuse to update the school.

Khairee

I do not appreciate the type of service that finicial aid, student accounts, and the registrar provide. All three of these services are not as helpful as they should be. Their services are very low and many students have trouble trying to stay finicially cleared because when one is not finicially cleared, one's classes, dormitory, and anything else that HU provides, is dropped and that prolongs the student from achieving success. They don't help students with financing their tuition; HU gains a lot of money from their students, and yet they never return anything back.

The worst thing abouut my school is that we can't have cars on campus and the campus is secluded. We aren't allowd to have cars as freshman and public transportation is expensive. Getting essentials for everyday life is hard so it becomes stressful when trying to leave the campus.

Courtney

The worst thing about my school will have to be the housing on campus. For freshmen year, all freshmen must live on campus, in a community style dorm. The problem that arises for many of us students are the conditions of the dorms, are very old and outdated. For instance many of the dorms, have mold in them and the ceilings have leaks , causing for a lot of bugs to live among us. Out of all the problems or issues that my school has, the housing conditions are horrible, for me to paying so much for room and board.

Lance

The Freshmen dormitory bathrooms are not well maintained. Upperclass dorms have well maintained facilities. The campus is kept clean, but the classrooms are old and falling apart. Most classrooms still have chalk boards in them and every building has cheap laminent flooring that is starting to crack and pieces are breaking off. Ontop of this, if you need to get something done, you better clear your schedule for the day because your going to be run around in circles all day. The food used to suck, but with the new cafiteria it is better!

Tiffany

The cost.

Quincy

Honestly, there isn't anyhting I dislike about my school so far. I really won't know until August.

shamara

Cafeteria ....just not much variation for students to eat from as in most universities.

Sydni

The worst thing about my school is the lack of things to do in the surrounding area. The social life at Hampton University is dry. The facilities are also very poor. Most of all the school is very unorganized and most of the administration isn't knowledgable.

Tyler

I believe the worst thing at Hampton University would be the Falculty/Staff's disregard for the healthiness and cleanliness of the school. The campus it's self is clean but the dorms are sub par and the old cafeteria is really bad. However, they are building a new cafe which will hopefully clear up somethings s far a that goes. Also, I think the school spririt could be better too. We know how to party but when it comes to supporting sports teams we don't have too much spirit.

Jordana

The forming of cliques. Granted, all schools have there cliques, but it's to the point that they seem like mini greek life associations.

DeVonne

The worst thing about Hampton is the cafeteria. It is the worst because it is located under a freshmen dormitory and the food is not appealing at all. Also the cafeteria does not have restrooms located inside the cafeteria.

amber

Overall adjusting to a new environment, having to manage one’s own fund is the biggest challenge while being at Hampton. I have no concerns in regards to Hampton University. I love my Home by The Sea.

Jade

the worst thing about my school is the run around

Shakerra

I think the worst thing about Hampton University would be the run around that make you go through to get paper work done.

Tyrone

There is not as much diversity as there should be even though it is an HBCU. Also some of the rules that are in place seem to be unnecessary.

Cynthia

The worst thing about Hampton University is the food variety and not having visitation. At other schools there is usually a variety of restaurants and food places to choose from but at Hampton there is only the cafeteria and Chick fil A. The food is good but i do not want to eat chicken 5 days out of the week. At Hampton freshman students do not have in room visitation which is the biggest downfall.

Sheridan

I consider the worst thing about Hampton University is the cost of attendance. It cost close to $30,000 per year.

Maneesha

The worse thing about my school is the culture. The people within the school are all different yet the same in most aspects. Since Hampton is one of the smaller Historically Black Colleges and Universities, I find it hard to maintain a strong social life with some individuals because of my own personal interests. I find that either the people are too openly wild, or too closed and secluded. Although I have many friends and associates and enjoy networking, I still have not found a middle ground with some.

Cassandra

I think the worst thing about Hampton University is the cafeteria food. I feel this way only because of the good things that I hear from my other friends at different colleges. Their cafeterias seem to have a greater variety than Hampton University's cafeteria.

Alycia

Hampton Administration has to be the most unorganized and annoying thing about the school. It can take a whole day to resolve the smallest issues. Alot of the administration does not seem to have any idea what they are doing. I have on numerous dates gotten diffrent information on the same issue depending on who I speak to. It is all very confusing and can add stress to any college student.

Takhari

There is nothing bad about my school because every school has its weaknesses. But I would say that the worst thing is the cafeteria food and some of the people who work in the cafeteria because it's the same every week.

Jasmine

The old bulidings and the cafe food.

Serena

This University is full of students who strive for the highest, the pits is not an option to fall in. You must be a student with gratitude, and be well aware of your surrounding intelligence. You have to be willing to accept the many varieties of people you will come across. Not letting anyone come across you with doubts of your own worth. Someone who will come with confidence in all that you do, realizing that success is your only option when you attend this University.

Jokita

The worst thing about Hampton University has to be the Dorm and the Cafe. I have tosay both because about $4000 per smester goes towrd these to places and the dorms are poorly maintenanced and the cafe does not have a good variety of food. In the dorms there is a constant batle between hot water showers and cold water showers because you never know what it is going to be and in the cafe you slide your card get a ticket and can only have one meal.

Amy

While the course offerings are widely varied, I do wish they would expand their sciences department.

Jessica

When considering my school, the worst thing about Hampton University would have to be the college expense. Although there are not any out of state fees the tuition along with comp. fees, housing, and food add up to almost $30,000 a year which is hard for most students who are not on scholarships (football players) to afford.

Darlene

The worst thing about my school is its location because of the fact that there is nothing around it, and limited transportation. Also, the costs at time could be overwhelming, which is why I continuously try to increase scholarship money, and ease the burden of paying my tuition on my parents.

Mahdiyyah

I would have to say that the worst thing about Hampton University is the food. The choices do not exactly vary, and the consistency will bore you. The only thing that saves (us)the students, is the fact that there are other places to eat and you can pay with money you get from the school called gourmet dollars which are placed onto your id card at the start of each semester.

Shenel

In actuality there is no worst thing, the university feeds students well, provides good/decent housing, provides protection, has a beautiful campus, and good surroundings. I would only say that there are a couple of negatives such as the bad attitudes of the faculty.

Matthew

Conformity. Many individuals conform to the trends of the school and have fear of expressing individuality. Hampton feels like an extended time in highschool simply because of "clicks" and trends. There is a serious lack of individuality.

Jade

Cafateria food and the Hampton "run around" administraively speaking. Also lack of accessibility to the local storees such as Wal-mart and Target.

N.

the surrounding area

Alexis

The worst thing about Hampton University is that the staff sometimes makes the process of signing up for classes, and receiving your financial aid awards a very long and tedious process when it should not be. My advice it to have lots of patience and don't panic.

Nadia

The food because there are very few choices and the hours don't fit my schedule, the dorms because they're old and defective, the administration because they don't care about students,

Brittany

Overall our school is good the only thing I would complain about is the cafe food

Jenae

Financtal aid

carson

the size and the rules because there is slight room for error

Stephanie

I would consider the worst thing about my school to be would be the so called "Hampton Run-Around." It's called the Hamptn run around, because when you have a question about something, you usually have to go to several places to find your answer.

Shaniqua

The worst thing(s) about my school is not being able to have a car as a freshman, the sucky parking when you are able to have a car,the cafeteria food, the lack of accessible transportation to things that surround the school, the strict dorm rules, the lack of Greek life due to overbearing administration, the foolish dress code (i.e,no wifebeaters,no clothing w/certain sayings on them such as "juicy" for juicy couture)

Yolanda

The administrative aspect of things on this campus are terrible. Whenever you need something you always get the run around. It so common that you can ask any student about the "Hampton run-around" and they will know exactly what I'm taking about. They are slow when it comes to sending out letters regarding financial aid and tuition as well.

Noelle

The worst thing about my school would be the ventilation systems in the classrooms because it is hard to learn with no air conditioning or heating.

Princess

The worst thing about my school is on-campus housing. We have limited housing and the rooms are small. The bathrooms also can be better. Our President does not believe in changing the campus old fashion look. We live in building that was there since the begining of school.

Adina

There were a lot of cliques among the student body.

candice

The way in whichstudents are given the run around when they are trying to handle their business.

JaJuan

The worst thing about Hampton University in my opinion, is either the faculty and staff or the facilities offered to the students on campus. From personal experience, very few staff actually want to help a student and always seem to send me in a "run around." Also, facilities are all old and in need of renovation or just not available. This school is definitely NOT WORTH the money.

dahlia

The worst thing about the school is the financial aid. They do not help you as much as they could. They just give you the run around.

Christopher

The worst thing I consider about Hampton is that it can be too strick. I belive this can take away the freedom that most students experience when they attend college, which can deter students from taking initative, being creative and themselves.

Ja-Mes

Administration can be very conservative and unyielding
