It's a nice school. They offer a well-rounded expirience with hands-on activities and trips. They also have partnerships with nearby organizations, allowing for students to get hands-on expirience in thier field of interest. My professors love what they do, and thier classes show it.
This university was very attentive with me when I was applying to become a student , once I've became a student that foundation of support has been lost. I have had concerns of my grades seeking help for a tutor ,the lady that is in charge of "assigning tutors" shares less concern and replies late, Granted she has a job to tend other than just that. It is rude that you are there to assist and barely do that I shouldn't have to remind her to email me about MY tutor. The class sizes are reasonable I feel as though I can focus more because the sizing isn't too outrageous. Everything closes a bit too early for my liking , i understand that is for my well being. Safety is a priority here my first day moving in a guy tried harassing a friend that helped us move in, every since that incident RA'S take turns in the lobby watching activity that enters and leaves the premises. Dorm living is very expensive , It would be more cheaper to live off campus rather than on campus. I do wish this university had more of a university feel to it , it is very much like go to school. come back to your dorm and study type of atmosphere , I am not implying there has to parties or any other of that sort. Real sports, homecomings , would be very well appreciated ! There are a numerous amount of clubs here , the staff does try and incorporate thing's of our interest. Overall my experience has been a learning of what I would like to see being a student that lives on campus , I do not regret my enroll I will take this experience as a way to do more research on a school before I attend.
Overall the school is great but thing such as housing and find a job are not so great. Housing is expensive with nice amenities but not great ones. I've found the staff and teachers to be very friendly and wanting to connect with students but not all teachers are tech savvy and take a bit to get grades and learning done on time. Personally I've joined a number of clubs and have met amazing people who have become great assets.
Well my freshman year was really fun. There was a lot of stuff to do and a lot of freshman to interact with. But my sophomore year, I realized I did not like the school and I was unhappy. The school is relatively small and there were no sports, no greek life. It was just boring. We also did not have a homecoming. The academics are proficient. It is not an actual school in my opinion, its more of a business facility. I realized this school is not for me, I want to be in a bigger campus with everything that I want listed above. I hope to find a school that I can actually get the real college experience while getting my degree.

Well I would tell myself that it wasn't a smart idea to move out so early. Basically as soon as I graduated I moved out and now I'm back living with my parents and commuting. I honestly think I made the right decision in the school I picked. I'm doing well in my classes and the teachers are very helpful and encourage the students to speak up in class and ask questions whenever we don't understand something. I like that they are also devoted to smaller classrooms so we are able to learn better.
It is a practically focused yet academic institution.
The student body is very diverse. They try to pull people in from every background possible. The cool thing is most students interact with each other and even though there are cliques, the school is so diverse it's impossible not to interact with someone outside of your comfort zone while in class. Most of the students are positive and it is definitely a left-leaning campus.
The professors at HU are nothing short of awesome. They are incredibly educated and actually take the time to get to know you. It's quite an advantage over most schools. Not to mention most have hands-on and real world experience. It creates a very unique learning environment that is extremely valuable.
Being a brand new University, there really isn't much student life. The University promotes "The City Is Our Campus" which is great and all - but they really need to work on building a solid framework for campus life including dorms and social clubs. The student life consists of mostly activities at the International House located a block away. They do have some pretty cool things going on.
The best thing about HU is the preparation for a real-world career and the internship opportunities. The school is great with giving you the tools necessary to compete in the job market. The "campus" is just a building on Market street in downtown Harrisburg. It would be nice if there was an actual spread-out campus.
The best thing would have to be the campus is brand new. All the classrooms are very high tech and they are smaller classes which helps.
The only thing I really don't like about my campus is that there is not much of an oppurtunity to live on campus. Since the school is located in downtown Harrisburg we just have a building, the apartments are about half a block away and very expensive. If they were more affordable I would most likely live there.
