Hastings College Top Questions

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

Daniel

Hastings College has great professors and advisors that care about my education. It is a smaller college but it is easier to become settled and at ease living away from home. I have a number of friends from many parts of the United States and we can have a great time socializing. My classes are close to my dorm and the food from the dining hall is great. I am also proud to be part of a 2010 NAIA National Championship Soccer Team and to have the opportunity to wear a championship ring as a freshman. Hastings College Freshman

The thing that I brag about the most to my friends back home is the small class size that my institution offers. My friends complain about how their class sizes are in the hundreds at that their teachers have no idea who they are. In response to this, I tell my friends that I have class sizes at around 25 students. This allows for more in-depth class discussions and allows for everyone to get their questions answered. Also, all the professors know the students in their classes by name.

The thing I brag about most is our alumni network and how they ensure we recieve proper funding, a good education and job placement. Many of our facilities, academic or athletic, have been paid for or in part by our alumni or people in the town. We are an old city rich with history as well as old and new money. When they contribute like they do we get better educational buildings and equipment to ensure our education and better athletic/recreational facilities to bring in recruits and promote campus involvement.

I really don't brag about much because I am a first year student and just getting use to the college life. If anything I brag about getting a good grade on a test or final exam. Otherwise I really don't have much to shout out. I am pretty laid back and if I do good in a class I usually keep it to myself.

Christine

That it is a small school and the professors and other adults are nice and helpful.

The classes are smaller than most Universities which allows you to receive a one on one type of education. The professors know your name and if you don't show up to class they will track you down. You receive real hands on experience from your freshmen year on, without having to wait till your junior or senior year to touch all of the school's expensive equipment. I was able have my own radio program on 90.1 KFKX in the first months of my freshmen year.

Hastings College has been an inspiring and enabling environment for me to learn what I want to learn. It's given me so many opportunities to branch out and learn (and get credit for) many things that are not in the catalogue. I'm most proud that I had the opportunity to diversify by becoming actively involved in a variety of things.

I brag most about all of the activities and opportunities I get. I also brag about all of the personalization and great people there. I really feel like I make a difference and get to try a lot of things that students my age either haven't had the chance to do yet or won't ever get the chance to.
