What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Jide

The Forest would be the most popular school group at ISU simply because its so student orientated.

I think in general, everyone at ISU likes to have a good time and party. What you do in your free time really depends on your group of friends and your interest. Freshmen year is where you tend to meet a lot of your friends. All of the freshmen live in the same dorms, so you get used to your classmates.

Being a distance education student I am not all that familiar with student activities but on the website they are always advertising some event. I have notice they are very active in community service and environmental awareness.

I’m involved with a lot of organizations at Indiana State University and they include the following: National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Lambda Delta, Golden Key International Honor Society, Semper Fi Society, Flight Team, Alpha Eta Rho, and Intermural Football, Softball, and Basketball. ISU has a lot to offer and you just have to find out what you like by simply getting out there and trying it. Greek life is very important and I rushed Alpha Tau Omega my sophomore year. However for me it just wasn’t my cup of tea and I removed myself from the fraternity. All of the guys are still my very good friends, and I hang out with them all the time. There are no hard feelings and I go over to the house all the time even to this day. The fraternities and sororities at ISU are great and I love them all. I chose to be an independent but I absolutely love Greek life at ISU. I’ve met most of my friends through the weight room or aviation department. The aviation community is a very close knit community. We all survive or fail as one, and teamwork has been instilled in me from day one. Before coming to ISU, I was one of those people who liked to do things on their own. In fact, I graduated from my high school class as the valedictorian. However, coming to ISU has taught me to be a team player in every aspect of my life and help me realize that a team can achieve what no one individual can! If you like to party, ISU will allow you to do that just like any other college campus, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you put your grades in jeopardy. Being 21, I’m legally allowed to drink and ISU has several night life functions which are quite fun. I would simply recommend it in moderation if you are of the legal age. If drinking becomes your main priority, you won’t succeed at college. I’ve been around ISU long enough to know that.

Many popular groups of students include greek life and sports. I am part of the greek life and I love being around my brothers, and even hanging out with new students on campus. We are very active in many events that go on campus. Students who live in the dorms like to leave their doors open while in the room because they like to be social and get to know one another. That is actually how I met majority of my friends and current brothers. Every weekend people like to be very social, whether it is at the local bars or any near by houses. There are also many places to eat off campus, as well as, many places to shop at.

Sports and Greek life are definitely the most popular student activites. We have over 1,000 in the Greek community with about 18 different organizations to get involved in. We also have many sports teams that students enjoy attending events for. Our basketball team is making headway the past couple of years, and we competed in NCAA Tournament. Our football team is also improving greatly, as well as our other sporting teams. We also have an outstanding track and field, and cross country team. In the freshman residence halls, many students leave their doors open for student interaction. I got to know my floor really well freshman year, and had a lot of fun. There's always something to do on campus, whether it be a social gathering, movies with friends, or events on campus. There's a wide variety of things to do, a wide variety of people, and a lot of fun!
