When you step off campus what do you see?

one thing that always stood out about IU Bloomington was its campus. It is absolutely gorgeous and makes you feel very welcome. so many trees and flowers that you dont feel as though you are going to sit in a boring old class room with blank walls. instead you feel free surrounded by nature and antique buildings that are still in amazing condition. everywhere you go on campus has something to look at, including the classrooms and hallways. i could walk campus for hours and never get bored.

The east side of campus is the commercial side with the mall and national restaurants, but on the other side is Kirkwood Ave. and the westside, which is filled with cute boutiques, local and ethnic restaurants, many, many bars, and all kinds of fun things! There's a farmer's market, three locations of a Food Co-Op, an AMAZING music scene with many local venues, and all kinds of things to do and see and places to shop and eat. Bloomington is wonderful. There's a food pantry, community gardens, bowling alleys, hiking - something for everyone!

I'm originally from another college town, so Bloomington reminds me in many ways of home. Just past the Sample Gates is Kirkwood. It's the main shopping/downtown area complete with Chipotle, Noodles and Company, and Urban Outfitters. Just a block over is 4th Street. 4th street is the place for ethnic food (off campus eating in Bloomington is spectacular!). You can find almost any type of food from any where in the world on 4th Street. If you get the chance, choose a restaurant on 4th street when you visit, it'll be a great experience.
