Indiana University-Kokomo has a welcome and friendly atmosphere with encouraging and helpful staff as well as professors. The tuition is reasonable and you receive an IU degree at a smaller campus than Bloomington or other larger IU institutions. The professors all truly care about each of their student's success and are continually available for assistance if someone is struggling. There are many helpful resources such as the math and writing labs that can improve and build student's study skills.
I am a double major and have had trouble with both the science faculty and the psychology faculty. There are 2-3 good professors in each of those departments but the rest are out to make your life hell. The cafeteria has outrageous prices, so I never buy food there. Since we are a commuter campus, extracurriculars are not really a thing and group meetings are so hard to schedule.
I love being a student at Indiana University- Kokomo because the staff there are all nice. People who don't really know each other are all nice and willing to help one another. The professors are also very welcoming if a student needs help or is feeling down. From my experience with struggling with problems, I find it comforting that there are people there that are willing to lend a ear. The activities are fun to join in as everyone is encouraged to join in and have fun.
I love IUK! The campus is beautiful and I always feel safe, not to mention how nice everyone there is. The professors and staff are always super helpful and kind and make me proud to be a student there! Although there is no on campus housing, but the off campus housing that you are referred to is just as wonderful!
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Indiana University-Kokomo is 69%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
If I had the opportunity to talk to myself as a senior and give advice, I would have a lot of advice to give. I would first make sure to tell myself that freshman year of college WILL be more difficult than high school and to prepare myself for the challenge. I would also tell myself to focus on the friends and memories during my senior year since it is the last year of high school. I would suggest looking at textbooks online before buying them in the campus bookstore and also to research available scholarship opportunities. I would also advise myself to enjoy my college career, yet stay focused on academic responsibilities.
I feel that without dormitories or campus housing, I am missing out on finding and building great friendships.
Small, community school, close to home and cost is somewhat affordable for my parents.
This is a commuter college. There is an equal number of recently graduated from high school students and people that have been in the work force that are returning to college.
IUK is not the right school for a person with no ties to the Kokomo area, especially if that person is a very high academic achiever. A student who possesses the intelligence and means to attend a very prestigious university, such as Harvard or Georgetown, that person should not consider IUK as an alternative. Also, if a student is not from the Kokomo area and does not have any great ties to the Kokomo area, there would be no reason to move or travel to Kokomo to attend IUK.
There are minimal activities to participate in. Although we are a small school other colleges of this size have more vaariety when it pertains to activities.
My school is a community college, that offers a variety of things; also has small classes that makes the learning environment easier.
Classmates are helpful and informative.
The people there are only there for school, not to make friends so the social aspect of school is very lacking. Also, there are not many clubs to choose from so it is harder to meet people with similar interests.
It is cost-efficient and will give an Indiana University degree.
My favorite campus tradition is the Halloween Open House. All the clubs get involved. Student Union Board is the event staff. This year there was 21 clubs involved and we reached about 500 children and parents in attendance. It is a great way to involve the campus and community.
Indiana University-Kokomo is a small school in Kokomo, Indiana. We have about 4000 students. We are an all commuter campus. We hit ground breaking enrollment every year. Though we are small we do have sports such as Men's and Women's Basketball, Cross-Country, and Volleyball. We also recently added an intramural program. We have over 20 clubs which students are always involved in. IU-Kokomo is a diamond in the rough. Though our campus and city are small it is beautiful and always pushing education.
Small campus where everyone feels like family. Staff and faculty are very accomodating. You ask for help as a new student on campus there was always someone willing to go out of their way tohelp you. Everyone on campus expressed interest in the welfare of the students. One thing I enjoyed the most was their flexibility on tuition payment, not one was kicked out of clas because they have not finished paying their tuition, compared to my previous experience, where you would find yourself dropped out of class if you do meet the deadline for payment.
We are a Indiana University and it shows. We have many majors and we are adding more. Most of my professors have doctorates or multiple master degrees. It is great academically I always feel challenged.
