As a 20 yr transfer student from IUB, it's a drastic difference, but I am here to learn and earn my degree. I am older of course so I'm a lot more focused and I think IUN facilitates that especially for adult students who have their own places, work full-time jobs, or have families.

Allison - 06/30/2021

I like the campus and hope to learn more when in in-person classes.

Chardonay

My overall opinion of Indiana University- Northwest is very decent. I don't have anything to complain about because the school is very nice in being very cultivated but also in having a nice sized community for the students to come together as a family. The school is where you can get most of your work done with the help of many students on campus.

Indiana University gave me the opportunity to return to school, which I appreciate very much. Though, the major I wished to pursue is not easily accessible. Communication majors may struggle to receive the education they urn for here. Other degree programs, such as psychology, criminal justice, nursing, and the fine arts fields are very lucky to have such an affordable option to receive their degree. Speaking of affordability, books, and supplies from the bookstore were much cheaper than expected, plus the staff in the bookstore is always willing, ready, and able to help! Also, there is a new Arts and Sciences building, which once again, if you're fine art major of any kind you will be thoroughly impressed by. Most classrooms are designed for discussion type classes, and the building itself is prioritized by its eco-friendly design. Plus, if you're into theater, you will fall in love! The new Arts and Sciences building has not one, but two brand new theaters with accompanying backstage space! In all, Indiana University is an amazing campus, with amazing opportunities, I just wished it would place more importance on COM majors.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Just go for it! College is a great experience. You may feel like high school is boring and that you don't ever want to set foot into a classroom again, but college will most certainly better your view on education. Unlike high school, college gives you the opportunity to learn many valuable things that you actually care about! I learn so much in one day just by listening to lectures alone. I never thought I would find learning fun until I actually started college. I also find that the way classes are set up gives me a lot more free time to study, spend time with friends or family, or enjoy hobbies. Don't let high school discourage you from gaining a higher level of education. In today?s economy, finding a good job and your dream career may be impossible without a college degree. Don?t let such a wonderful and exciting opportunity pass you up. Get the higher level of education you need and enjoy every second of it!

  4. What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about my school would have to be the professors. I'm well into my sophomore year and I have yet to have a boring, dull, or uninteresting instructor. To top it off, all my instructors are very wise in what they teach. Their vast knowledge on the subject and their ability to make the classes interesting helps bring a certain level of fun to my college experience.

  6. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

I graduated from Indiana University. The name itself is something to be proud of. I brag about the professors. It felt more like a highschool classroom in that the professors really knew who I was and where I was headed with my future. I was able to excel and graduate with honors. When I was there the campus was making improvements to its layout making it easier to stay there all day and study between classes while enjoying the benefits of computer labs and a new student area.

  7. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

There is a lack of community. IUN is a commuter campus, so there are a lot of people who just want to go in, do their classes, and go out. They don't want to make this place more fun. There is also less socialization between students than I would like. However, IUN does realize this, and I appreciate its attempts to bring us together as a campus.
