I would describe my classmates as tired.

Everyone here is welcoming and I am always meeting new people.

At Indiana University of Pennsylvania, I have some classmates who are very positive and outgoing who are also ready to learn. Some are really ambitious, and surrounds the majority of their college experience on their future career. For instance, one of my classmates wants to be in the communications media career. So the majority of his extracurricular activities revolve around tv and radio. I also have some classmates who seem to only be in college just because it was their only option after high school. With these classmates, I don't really see any excitement about college from them.

My classmates vary from class to class. There are a variety of people of different backgrounds and races in eac class and for the most part we all get along. In my computer science class there are many people that have a lot in common with me and I really enjoy the people I'm around. So far I have had no complications with other students at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Classmates are very engaging and participate very enthusiiastically.

- There is a place for everyone at IUP, we have many different cultures here at IUP and they are all excepted. They also have many different clubs and organizations for minorities. - I do not think any person would feel out of place at this school unless they wanted a very small school. - Most students dress pretty casually to class - Jeans/ IUP t-shirt etc. the usual - Most students are from PA, NJ, MD, etc.

I can honestly say that there is no way to describe the "typical" IUP students. I don't believe such a label exists. IUP is very diverse in terms of race, culture, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status. We are a very accepting population. There is a club for virtually every person. From Catholics to Atheists, Latinos to African Americans, Republicans to Democrats, there is a club for everyone. There is even a "Non Traditional Student Organization" for older students. We have a very proud LGBT community who sponsor an LGBT film festival every year. We have activists, Greeks, religious, sports enthusiasts, writers, talkers, adventures, and more. We have an entire dorm building dedicated to international students. There are no "cliques" at this school. Everyone tends to intermingle. There are so many places to meet people that it is hard to form exclusive groups. If you ask me, this is one of the best parts of IUP. There is no norm!

My classmates were outgoing, outspoken, fun, friendly, and in the majors many were very good friends because of the amount of time you spend with the people.

I love the IUP student body! So many fun and nice people to meet. I love it here.

Most of my classmates are really friendly.

Most students, between 80-90% are White Americans. About 10-15% are African American. The rest are East Asian study abroad students. There is an equal mix between politically conservative and liberal students. However, I always get e-mails from student social groups and the "Indiana VIE (voter initiative and education)" that are very liberal. There is an overall lack of conservative organizations on campus (I am not saying they do not exist).

THE STUDENT BODY KNOWS AND UNDERSTANDS THAT THERE HAS TO BE A HEALTHY BALANCE BETWEEN ACADEMIC LIFE AND SOCIAL LIFE AND I BELIEVE THAT AT IUP THE STUDENTS HAVE MANAGED TO DO JUST THAT. WITH A WIDE RANGE OF STUDENT ASSOCIATIONS AND SPORTING ACTIVITIES, THE SOCILA ASPECT IS WORTH EXPERIENCING AND YOU WILL JUST LOVE IT!...THE STUDENT BODY ALSO WORKS TOGETHER IN CLASSES TO ASSURE THAT KNOWLEDGE SPREADS TO EVERYBODY AND THE SHARING OF INFORMATION IS JUST WHAT ONE NEEDS WHEN YOU ARE LEARNING AND STUDYING OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM!...AND WITH A COUPLE OF PIZZA BOXES..YOU WILL BE GUARANTEED OF GETTING THE PHYSICS FORMULAES RIGHT!!...AND A FEW PEEKS AT FACEBOOK....LOL!

I don't think you have to feel out of place because you'll eventually find people just like you. Most students wear comfortable clothing such as sweats, shorts, t-shirts etc. Most IUP students come from philly and there are only a lilttle that come from somewhere different.

The student body is very diverse. I think everyone is welcome and feels welcome at IUP. most students are actually from Pa.

if you dont like to party even just a little bit you prob arnt going to fit in as you would somewhere else

IUP students are very accepting of people of all races and orientations.

No one should feel out of place at IUP. There is a very diverse crowd. You name it you got it. As one person with many interests, I fit in, in so many ways. Originally an Art Education major, I made many friends who shared in my appreciation for the fine arts. Later joining a sorority I found friends who I could be girly and shop with. Not to stereotype sororities, I also found strong mature women who wanted to become educated role models in that same sorority. As an English major I had a group of friends I could really have stimulating intellectual conversations with. There are various sports groups, and sororities and fraternities for EVERYTHING. Not just Greek life, there are fraternities for honors, music, racial ethnicities, even LGBT. I couldn’t begin to list the clubs and groups offered at IUP. It is almost impossible not to be involved in something. Since there is such a wonderful exchange program at IUP, you don’t even need to leave the country to become acquainted with new cultures.

There are a ton of student organizations on campus, ranging from academic, to religious, to even an anime club. No student would be out of place...everyone can find their niche. What people wear to class various. I usually wear jeans and some shirt. You have to keep in mind that it rains a lot, so even with jeans the bottoms of them will get dirty/muddy/soggy. You always see the people who try too hard and get all dressed up to go to class. Then you see your sterotypical girls on campus who probably watch reruns of Sex and the City and Laguna Beach on a regular basis, and swear that Madonna and Marilyn Monroe have always been their role models. You know what I'm talking about. These are the girls that walk around in Victoria's Secret PINK sweatpants, tucked into a pair of those silly eskimo boots, wearing some sort of top ranging from something they'd wear out to the bar or a hoodie, hair that looks like it hasn't been washed in a few days pulled back into a messy ponytail, eyes (and face) covered with huge sunglasses, huge hoops, and a cigarette in hand. Haha. I laugh everytime I see this: it's the IDon'tCareHowILook outfit, but it's planned. Most of IUP's students are from Pennsylvania.

To be honest there is a lot of diversity at IUP, but everyone sticks to their own little clique. For instance a group of sorority sisters from the same sorority will all hang out together, the basketball players will all hang out together, the international kids all hang out together, etc. Students at IUP are usually from Eastern or Western PA, Maryland, New York, the D.C. area, West Virginia, or outside the U.S. Financial backgrounds that are prevalent are blue collar or upper middle class. Also, those from the inner cities like Philadelphia or Pittsburgh come from poorer backgrounds. Students are definitely politically aware especially with elections going on. My school is predominantly left, because of location.

You've heard it before, and it's true: no two people are the same. IUP's campus is diverse, as it educates people from all over the country and all over the world. Its students and professors are of different races, religions, and sexual orientations; there seems to be an academic group for each of them. A lot of IUP students talk about politics, and many of them mention political views and political figures during class. Some students are determined to make their views known, as several protests were held my senior year.

VERY diverse. which is uncommon. Alot of exchange students. I dont think i have ad one class where there wasn't a foreign student. You learn alot that way. People also come from all financial backgrounds. it would be difficult to say " IUP students are primarily this or that".

In the dining hall, you get the loud group of black people, who you always hear laugh from a feet away and make you smile as you indulge in their conversation. You get the handful of preppys? The guys with the baseball hats, who eat a lot and inhale their food. The international students who stick together and manage to stay healthy eating a salad and a tea! You get us, a diverse range of people, argueing over if Germans are hairy or not, pouring salt in eachothers drinks when they're not looking!

I think IUP is a fairly diverse campus. There are so many different types of people, races, religions, personalities, etc.. that you'll be able to make friends easily. I've also found that most students are willing to help out in you need it or ask for it. IUP seems to be mostly middle class/working class types. Not many really rich people that I've encountered so far. Or at least none that flaunt it.
