Indiana University of Pennsylvania-Main Campus Top Questions

I'm transferring in the spring if that gives you any idea. I'm not a party animal anymore so there isn't really anything there for me.

I must say that I was skeptical about going to IUP before I went. I was nervous about the stereotypes about partying and about not being able to make friends and pretty much everything else a freshman college student is nervous about. Once I got there and starting my first semester, I quickly found out that IUP is a great place to get an eduction and make friends.

IUP is a shit ton of fun! honestly.

Most colleges, and I know IUP is among them, want for the students to succeed and if I can help the "younger folk" understand this, I've done something worthwhile!

Blacks. They are a problem. I'd like to see them under the thumb a little bit more. Being 75{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} Italian and 25{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} Greek, I am not anglo at all and did not enslave anyone. I get called out in class when I talk about racial issues, and they are so uneducated it makes me sick.

If you're a young leftist, liberal, hippie -- IUP would LOVE to have ya.

IUP is attempting to upgrade to a division 1 school so the student population is increasing. The dorms are becoming more expensive because they are rebuilding everything, the parking is hard to come by and expensive, the financial office is a little scatter-brained, the teachers are often overloaded, and the health center is always packed! Our school, like all the rest, has the bads with the goods. I would suggest IUP to anyone with an open mind.

If you are into sports, serious about your education and you like to go to bars, clubs, malls,stores, and a slew of restaurants, or you want to live on campus in a nice area. then IUP is definitely not for you. If you like to party, have a good time, or just to get a bachelor's degree without any challenge, then IUP is for you. I know it was no for me so I transferred to another university (outside of PA)

It can be hard to find work here. I wish they would open more buisnesses. There are alot of police in Indiana. Most of the people I know have had AT LEAST ONE run in with the police. Also, our school has an incredibly high STD rate!! Be careful.

Heres my advice to new students: IUP is a great school academically and socially. I would go back in a heartbeat!! Just don't let the social aspect get the best of you or you wont make it through school. What you do in college socially also can determine if you get your dream job. By that I mean being cited for underage drinking, fighting, whatever....... etc. Think before you do something stupid. It might cost you everything.

IUP is a great school to begin your college career at! But is also a hard school to learn how to manage your time correctly, if you come here then you want to make sure that you know how to manage your time between, social, academic, greek, work, extra-curriculars, and anything else that interfere with studying!

If you hate being woken up at 6 am by loud construction, think twice before coming here.

my freshman year i think everyone is my hall had gotten an underage and last year the campus police were allowed to start carrying firearms. Last year like 6 kids died of drug overdoses I think there were 3 ON CAMPUS and there was one in my apartment building. the one in my building had been there for three days before anyone found him. In certain dorms they do not enforce the noise rules and the drug rules at all. I have seen people carried out in stretchers from ODing. In the suites it's not any better. They have completely destroyed the suites there are wholes in the walls doors where broken off bathroom where destroyed. In my opnion if you are going to pay 3550 a semester to live somewhere then you should live off campus. If I had to choose over again I would still go to IUP mainly because I met some of the most amazing people here.

IUP is an excellent school for a really great price!

I.U.P. is a great school. I am very happy that I was a part of the university as a student. I am proud of my degree. I am happy that I made the decision to attend the school. I learned that my company recruits from I.U.P.'s safety program.

I am very happy with my IUP experience. Any student interested in IUP should take a tour and give it a close look.

The Crimson Hawk, our new mascot, isn't really that great. Maybe it'll get better as it gets older.

I would recommend anyone to go to college at IUP. It has been the best decision I have ever made. The people are so nice and the professors care about you and your work. College isn't just about learning but also having fun and letting loose. It's a place where you find the real person in you that, for some, weren't able to be in high school. For me IUP was a fresh start and one where I can get a great education. I wouldn't change my decision in coming here for the world.

College is all about becoming someone. And yes, it's one big party, but I hope you learn something along the way, if you don't you'll regret it for the rest of you're life.

IUP, like any other school is what you make of it. You can choose to party, or you can choose to study. You can join a club, group, fraternity, serority, ect., or choose to make friends at your own will. I love IUP becuase I have found a great group of friends and I finally found a major that is of my interest.

An all-around good school, some students have problems balancing parting & school work so many dont come back after their freshman year. However, once you find that balance you have no worries.

When I'm at IUP it is the best time of my life, i like my classes, love my friends, and enjoy everything I do.

I do not regret going to IUP. Sometimes I wish I went to a bigger school like Penn State. I'm satisfied with the way things are ran at IUP.

IUP is deffinitly a home away from home. It is the ulimate college experience while obtaining a great education. My final word of advise is; you get what you put into it. Be involved. Meet people. Step out of your comfort zone.

If you are underage and drinking at IUP be very careful. The cops here are dicks and will give you an underage charge for stumbling while walking. I know many kids freshman year who got in trouble multiple times, some got kicked out of the dorms and others had to change majors because of the drinking charges they received. They're really cracking down on underage drinking on our campus now, so just beware!

IUP is a fantastic place and I am so glad that I ended up there!

Everything seems really good here at campus. Security and the health center know what they are doing. I have never had any problems here. Just be responsible for your actions and your possessions and you won't have any problems.

I'm glad I picked IUP. I don't think I would be happier at any other school.

Great school However IUP police are dicks, and they will bust ya for about anything if they get the chance, ohh and the parking situation at IUP is fucking horrible, i get no lie 5 parking tickets a semester

Weather: The weather in Indiana is very strange. The majority of the school year is cloudy and rainy, cold, with some snow. Once it does snow, it gets very, very cold. With the lack of sunlight (I swear they get less than Seattle does), it's easy to get depressed. There are a fair amount of potholes and the campus folks do a terrible, terrible job of snow removal. So - bring a raincoat, rainboots, umbrella, as well as a very warm jacket, scarf, hat, gloves, and snow boots. Buildings during the winter can be very hot. Bring layers to wear, because when you get inside from the freezing cold, you will sweat heavily and get dehydrated. Transportation: Fullington Trailways, a bus line that leaves from Indiana, PA, on the edge of campus, provides cheap ($25 one way) transportation to the Pittsburgh airport.

IUP is not set up very well for adult/non-traditional students

IUP is a great university to attend! I love the students, the professors, the campus, just everything about it! I feel very relaxed here (unless its finals week) and I feel very safe. IUP is definitely my home away from home and I think it is a respected academic institution as well! One of the ebst decisions I ever made was to attend IUP.

the only thing that really sucks about IUP is the president and the police. the new president has really cut down on drinking in general so the cops are super strict...it blows...i was there for a month and got in trouble twice...a public drunkeness and a furnishing alcohol to minors....they were both bullshit..i got the pd because i gave a cop attitude when i refused a breathalizer bc im 21 and i had a keg at my house were 2 underage kids were at...you really have to be careful they will bust you for everything and anything..i got suspended for the furnisshing to minors but do plan on going back bc no there shcoo will take all my credits

I adored my freshman year and I know this year will be that much more incredible! Advice? Take life at IUP for all its worth--don't miss out on anything and live it up!

IUP is a really great school. The education you can get is a great value for the price and I can bet just about everyone will create some type of family with the people you meet there.

IUP is a great university and I would recommend any student looking for a career in nursing to enroll at IUP. You won't be disappointed!!

Hasn't my entire review been like this? I am jaded obviously and I don't transfer schools because it is more economically feasible to stick it out at this school at this point and finish my major. But if I could do it again I probably wouldn't come here.

The athletic teams don't get enough credit for the work they put into thier respective sport, and the advertisement of these games aren't up top par for the level of competition that is being played.

In local parlance, some of the sorority girls are nicknamed Sorrostitutes. I know it's mean, but, well, yeah.

There is a Co-op store on campus that gives $$ to the campus, but to better assist you student population financially, why isn't there a book buy back fair where students can sell their own books to other students for a better price than the Co-op store is buying them back at? This exchange helps every student. Those needing books and those needing to get rid of them. Why is there not a commuter lounge? I have 5 hours beteen my classes next semester. There is only so much you can handle of the library and only so much you can eat. It would be nice to have a area where commuters only (put something on our ID cards showing we are commuters, like stored info in the magnetic strip) where they have couches, a snack area, computers, tv area, study area, tutor area all in one place with some lockers.

IUP is a great school overall, they get marked off as a party school often but you just have to stay out of that and you can actually make it through your 4 yrs with a 4.0 The community is welcoming and its easy to find something to do on campus almost every night of the week. Atleast check it out. I'm sure you'll love the campus
