Lindsey

That IUP is only a party school and that their is nothing to do if you are under 21.

Kelly

A lot of kids think this is "the party school" or in general a huge party school. This could stem from the fact that there is a wide range of fraternities and sororities on our campus. I think even in the fraternities and sororities there are stereotypes, such as they all sleep around.

Lindsay

IUP has been considered a huge party school in PA.

Maria

Some stereotypes are that we party all the time, we are always drunk, and that most of the time we have no idea what is going on. This could be farther from the truth. Most of the time the campus is quiet with studying and hanging out. Yeah, there are some parties on the weekends but it is not as crazy as it sounds.

Nicole

All we do is drink and party.

Abigail

A lot of people think that IUP is a party school as many people will tell you when you say that you are going to or are already attending the university. People think that the students only go there strictly to party and that you can find a party every night of the week. Another stereotype about IUP is that it has a higher crime rate than many of the other state schools.

Bridget

That they drink/party a lot

Many people think that all students who go to IUP are all about partying, since it is sterotyped as a partying school. I would just like to disagree, because it is not true. I am becoming a senior in the fall, and the partying scene has not been apart of my college career since I've started, and I know many others who are the same.

Hunter

Before I came here I was under the impression that it was a crazy party school. However, although the students like to have a good time just like any other college, I haven't found it to be in excess. It's just the right amount of partying!

I think IUP gets a reputation for being this huge party school and well I can't disagree that you can probably always find a party. I think that a school is what you make it though. Any and every school can be a party school. It's up to the student what they make of their college years.

Kristina

Of course, there's the big stereotype that every student goes out and parties all the time. Also, IUP isn't always a college that people think of as having great academic programs - people think of it as middle of the road.

Many people look at IUP students are only there because thier partiers. IUP for a long time has been known as a party school.

Lauren

A lot of people before and after I have decided to come up to iup say that it is a huge party school. In my own experience, this only happens if you want to make it happen. You can easily avoid big parties if you want to. I didn't go to any during my freshman year (maybe a little section hang out once) but I still had the time of my life that year. If you want to drink, you'll be able to find it probably, but if you want to stay away from that sort of thing, it's very easily done. There are also a lot of diverse groups of people on campus. This comes as a plus in order to see the different types of personalities flow through campus.

Kelly

Party School, No fun activities

KJ

The parents are all former coal-miners. Small town with small mindedness.

Justin

That we party too much.

Jenna

I am unsure if there are any particular stereotypes specifically about IUP or IUP students. People may assume that an IUP degree is not as good as a PSU degree or a University of Pittsburgh degree; however, I feel that they are wrong. I think that it all depends on each individual student and how motivated they are once they graduate-- regardless of where a students earns their degree from.

Robin

that were a big big party school...which isnt as true as it sounds, yes there is partying, but not out of control. If you dont look close you wouldnt even see it.

It's a big party school, that they are the rejects that didn't get into the good colleges

Dawson

IUP has a reputation as a party school, more than anything. It is not considered lackluster or spectacular, but is the largest of the sixteen state schools of Pennsylvania. (PaSSHE)

Jeffrey

IUP has a reputation for being a big time party school, and not being as reputable as some of the larger schools in the region. The students are stereotyped as all being partiers and not being that smart. IUP is know for having lots of good looking girls, and that idea carriers over into the intelligence category.

Jeremy

They all like to party. They're very diverse. Most are poor students. IUP doesn't care about its students. IUP has a poor relationship with the surrounding community.

Meghan

It's a party school; everyone's too dumb to get into "better" schools, or a redneck, or a snotty local or townie.

Angie

Unfortunately, we have the reputation of being a huge party school that graduates few successsful people.

toni

I heard it was a big party school. I don't live on campus, so not too sure if that is true or not. Small town with not much to do outside of school.
