Varsity sports are a big deal at ISU, especially football and basketball, and in recent years many of the teams have been improving. If you want to play sports but can't or don't want to devote your time to a varsity sport, intramural and club sports are also big. Tons of sports are offered and there are several skill levels so anyone can participate at the level they want.
On campus I would say people find football to be the most important with basketball not far behind. Our teams have really been improving and everyone likes to go watch the games as a social event. Women's sports and other smaller sports are pretty neglected though, and not everyone wants to pay to go see them.
