Many stereotypes of students at Ithaca include hipsters and stoners. This isn't true at all. There's actually a lot more athletic students than any other stereotype. That being said, Ithaca is pretty diverse in terms of personality. Everybody will find their place.

I cannot say one stereotype applies to students at Ithaca College. There are extreme environmentalists, drama kids, jocks, stoners, and preppy students. A lot of the girls can be categorized as preppy. Even if they do not fall exactly under such a title, they are usually very up to date on their fashion. There are a large number of athletes on campus, but they are often very intelligent too. We are a D3 school so you cannot get by with just muscles. Since going to Ithaca I have been surprised by the large number of 'stoners.' They're sneaky here at IC. A lot of students smoke, but they do not all fall under the typical image one may have for such a stereotype. To more accurately talk about stereotypes on the IC campus, I think brands should be used. My dad told me one day before I went off to college that I would fit in perfectly because I was wearing a North Face fleece and my Ugg boots. Once I got to college I bought a Vera Bradley ID holder. Vera Bradley is so common on our campus that our college bookstore has a whole section devoted to the name brand bags. North Face, Ugg, and Vera Bradley can be found in an array of different items throughout the student body. A lot of guys have North Face fleeces and backpacks as well.
